Get ready for the first chapter of William Hill’s Sports Book Club radio show!

| BY News Team

We are happy to announce that we’re partnering with talkSPORT2 to launch an exciting new radio show – William Hill Sports Book Club – which is set to delve into some of the year’s most exceptional sports books in contention for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award 2024.

Hosted by leading broadcaster Adrian Durham, he will be joined each month by a member of the William Hill Sports Book of the Year judging panel and William Hill reading panel member Neil Foggin, to discuss what it takes to win the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award.

Each episode will take place on the first Thursday of each month, with the first episode launching on 1st February, and will take a deep dive into the 2024 entries for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award as and when they come in – so the earlier publishers or authors get their books in for entry submission, the higher their chances are of getting on the show.

The first episode features renowned British sports journalist Alyson Rudd and will showcase 2023’s winner ‘Good For a Girl’ by author Lauren Fleshman. The episode will contain snippets from last year’s William Hill Sports Book of Year Award ceremony where Lauren discusses the inspiration for the book, the intention behind it, and why she believes it to be a pivotal piece of writing in the modern-day environment where men continue to dominate the world of sport. Fleshman is a retired track and field athlete whose book detailed her career in the athletics industry, while voicing her criticisms of how professional sport treats female athletes and issuing a rallying cry for reform.

The William Hill Sports Book Club will kick off with some questions to the guest surrounding sports books in general, followed by a more thorough inspection and review of their submission to the William Hill Sports Book of the Year, culminating in any further sports book recommendations as well as their reading habits.
