TORONTO, CANADA, 17. JULY: National Hockey LeagueLogo of NHL club on the screen. Stenley Cup Trophy Silhouette.

The most prestigious prize in the world of ice hockey, lifting the Stanley Cup is the ultimate goal for any National Hockey League player.

With the 2025/26 NHL season entering a key phase, it’s time to take a look at the current state of the betting. Who will be crowned NHL champions at the end of the campaign? Only time will tell.

Stanley Cup 2026 Outright Odds:

Punters can bet on the outright winner of the 2026 Stanley Cup at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:

  • Colorado Avalanche – 11/4
  • Tampa Bay Lightning – 8/1
  • Carolina Hurricanes – 8/1
  • Vegas Golden Knights – 17/2
  • Florida Panthers – 9/1
  • Edmonton Oilers – 10/1
  • Dallas Stars – 12/1
  • Washington Capitals – 20/1
  • Minnesota Wild – 25/1
  • Bar – 33/1

Here, I look through some of the main Stanley Cup contenders according to the betting – and here is why these teams can compete deep into the postseason this year.

The Colorado Avalanche are clear as the best team in the National Hockey League in terms of points acquired, with 74 points recorded as we venture past the mid-stage of the regular season.

They have scored more goals (182) and allowed fewer (103) than any of their NHL rivals and it’s no surprise to see the Avalanche priced up as clear favourites to claim their second Stanley Cup success in five years.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been one of the most consistent teams in the National Hockey League for some time now and they are likely to be there or thereabouts come the business end of the campaign.

It’s a very competitive division but that should stand the Bolts in good stead for the playoffs and they have really raised their game in recent weeks, winning 11 games on the spin. They’ve featured in three of the last five Stanley Cup finals so it would take a brave man to back against them.
