Madrid Open Final: Shock In Spain? Don’t Count On It…

| BY Sam Cox

A look ahead to the 2026 Madrid Open men’s final, with William Hill News tipster Sam Cox previewing the action ahead of Sunday’s clash.

Seeds three through nine were eliminated before the quarters of the Madrid Open. It’s been a tournament packed with upsets, but we have reached the final the tennis betting markets projected with world number one Jannik Sinner facing the second-seed Alexander Zverev.

Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev Prediction:

  • Best bet: Jannik Sinner -4.5 games (6/5)

A two-time winner at the Madrid Open, Zverev was a semi-finalist in Monte Carlo and hasn’t reached the final of a clay-court Masters event since 2024. He lost to Flavio Cobolli in straight sets in the semi-final in Munich, though went on to beat the young Italian in the last eight of this event.

Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev Odds:

  • Jannik Sinner – 1/6
  • Alexander Zverev – 4/1

Sinner has already beaten Zverev in three semis this year, including Monte Carlo. The Italian has won the last eight meetings and has won the last five in straight sets. Even with Zverev’s strong overall record on clay, he was no match for Sinner in Monte Carlo, losing 6-1, 6-4.

They might be the top two seeds in this event, but don’t be fooled. There is an absolute chasm between Sinner and Zverev. Their recent matchups have not been even remotely competitive.

Sinner has covered this game spread in four of their last five contests. Zverev has benefited from a relatively easy draw to end his Masters final drought, but he’s going to have to wait a little longer for an ATP 1000 title.
