Australian Open Quarter-Final Predictions – Wednesday 28th January 2026
The next set of Australian Open quarter-finals are taking place in the early hours on Wednesday.
Below, we have analysed the tennis betting markets for Wednesday’s four matches.
Ben Shelton vs Jannik Sinner
Jannik Sinner has dropped one set in the Australian Open thus far. While Sinner is the overwhelming favourite, it’s worth noting Ben Shelton has been just as dominant, with his four-set win over Casper Ruud representing his first lost set of the tournament.
The last eight meetings between these players have ended in a straight sets win for Sinner. Shelton has been unable to cope in these matchups, despite winning their first duel back in 2023.
The foundation of a Shelton win has to be built on a high first serve percentage. He needs to get his first serve in at least 75% of the time to avoid Sinner taking control of his service games.
Recent history suggests that’s a big ask, though. Despite Shelton’s strong performances, this has a whiff of another routine Sinner win.
Pick: Sinner 3-0 win at 4/6
Lorenzo Musetti vs Novak Djokovic
There’s clearly a rest advantage for Novak Djokovic in this matchup after his fourth-round walkover. Lorenzo Musetti was taken to five sets in the third round by Tomáš Macháč before a dominant performance over Taylor Fritz.
Despite only getting 69% of his first serves in, Musetti conceded just two break points to Fritz. He put enormous pressure on the American’s second serve.
Djokovic has had the upper hand on Musetti, but it’s worth noting the Italian took Djokovic to five sets at Roland Garros a couple of years ago and pushed him all the way in Athens last year.
Pick: Over 38.5 total games at 17/20
Jessica Pegula vs Amanda Anisimova
Jessica Pegula has been in ominous form thus far. It’s been three consecutive straight sets wins for the America, dropping only 17 games in the process.
Amanda Anisimova has been almost as impressive, yet to lose a set, but benefited from a favourable draw. She’s yet to take on a seeded player en route to reaching the first Australian Open quarter-final of her career.
There’s little to choose between these players statistically in 2026. This is their first meeting since 2024, with Anisimova improving markedly since then. In what looks a close matchup, we expect this to go the distance.
Pick: Both players to win a set at 13/10
Elena Rybakina vs Iga Świątek
This is the pick of Wednesday’s matches. We’ve got Elena Rybakina, the world number five, taking on an all-time great in Iga Świątek.
Świątek has the edge with a 6-5 record in the head-to-head matchups. Rybakina, though, notably beat the Pole in the WTA Finals a few months ago.
Maddison Inglis was emphatically seen off by Świątek in the fourth round, while Rybakina has barely broken a sweat thus far.
Inconsistent first serves have been Rybakina’s main flaw so far this season. She’s got a real chance of winning this match if he addresses that issue, and even if not, she should be able to take this to three sets.
Pick: Both players to win a set at 13/10
