Laver Cup 2025 – Final Day Predictions & Tips
Our betting preview ahead of the Laver Cup final matches as Team Europe look to turn around a 9-3 deficit on the final day, following a whitewash from Team World on Day Two of the tournament.
The 2025 Laver Cup gets underway on Friday 19th September and much of the attention will be on world number one Carlos Alcaraz as he bids to help Team Europe clinch back-to-back victories in the competition.
Team Europe got off to a strong start on Friday in San Francisco taking an early 3-1 lead but that all changed on Saturday, with Team World winning all four games and claiming the maximum eight points that were on offer, giving them a huge 9-3 lead heading into the final day.
Up first we have the pairing of Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) & Casper Ruud (Norway) up against Alex Michelsen (USA) & Reilly Opelka (USA).
No matter what happens in that doubles fixture, with each game now worth three points on the final day and the winners needing thirteen points, we are guaranteed the singles game between Jakub Mensik (Czech Republic) and Alex de Minaur (Australia).
The two following games all depend on the first two results, it’s scheduled for Carlos Alcaraz to face Francisco Cerundolo (Argentina) which if Team Europe are still in with a shout of lifting the Laver Cup at the point, should set up a potential decider between Alexander Zverev (Germany) and Taylor Fritz (USA).
If the points are tied at 12-12 at the end of all matches, a final overtime doubles match is played as a regular set with as scoring and a tiebreak as a decider.
Laver Cup Match Odds & Predictions:
Punters can bet on the upcoming Laver Cup matches at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:
Carlos Alcaraz/Casper Ruud v Alex Michelsen/Reilly Opelka (8pm)
You feel like this could be such a huge match if Team Europe are to get themselves back in this tournament, Alcaraz and Ruud have paired up before in the Laver Cup last year, a game in which they won 2-0.
So far in this tournament, Alcaraz won his doubles match (With Jakub Mensik) on the first day 2-0, whilst he heads into this one off the back of a shock defeat to Taylor Fritz on day two. It’s a similar story for Caper Ruud, having won his first singles game 2-0, he also heads into this one off the back of a defeat, albeit in his doubles pairing with Holger Rune.
Alex Michelsen has won one of his two games so far, that came in his doubles match which extended Team World’s lead to 9-3, whilst Reilly Opelka is still looking for his first win.
Match Prediction: Alcaraz/Rudd 2-0.
Jakub Mensik v Alex de Minaur (9.30pm)
Depending on the result of the doubles match previous to this one, Alex de Minaur could have the chance to secure just a third ever Laver Cup victory for Team World.
Both of these players have won their last two matches in the Davies Cup and the Laver Cup, whilst the Australian has the upper hand on his opponent in recent games, with the world number 8 winning the previous two meetings between these two, both on hardcourt.
Match Prediction: Alex de Minaur 2-1. (14/5)
Carlos Alcaraz v Francisco Cerundolo (11pm) – *If Needed*
If my predictions are correct, we should have a scoreline of 12-6 heading into this fixture, with the world number one taking on the world number twenty-one.
Alcaraz has beaten the Argentine in his last three games, including two this year at Indian Wells and Monte Carlo, i’m expecting more of the same here with the Spanish superstar to win this one fairly comfortably.
Match Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz 2-0. (4/11)
Alexander Zverev v Taylor Fritz (00.30am) *If Needed*
What a story it would be if Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz met in a must win game but that’s definitely a possibility in San Francisco.
The Zverev & Fritz head-to-head is perhaps the most intriguing of them all, that was once a 5-3 lead for Zverev, but Fritz has won the pair’s last five meetings in a row, including four last year (Wimbledon, US Open, Laver Cup and the ATP Finals) and one this year (Stuttgart).
With the American heading into this one off the back of a straight set victory against the world number one, Taylor Fritz could seal the deal here for Team World on home soil.
Match Prediction: Taylor Fritz 2-1. (3/1)
Final Prediction: Team Europe 9-15 Team World.
