Miami Open Betting Preview & Predictions (2025)

Miami Open Tennis

The 2025 Miami Open comes off the back of an enthralling week at Indian Wells.

Jack Draper won his first Masters 1000 title in the men’s draw, setting him up as one of the tennis betting favourites in Florida. Mirra Andreeva won her first ever singles title at the age of 17, coming from a set down to defeat Aryna Sabalenka in the final.

Last year’s champions (Jannik Sinner and Danielle Collins) are far from being the online betting favourites here. Sinner is suspended due to testing positive for a banned substance. Collins has lost six of her last eight matches, with the two wins coming against qualifiers at Indian Wells before losing to Madison Keys in straight sets.

Novak Djokovic, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, and Alexander Zverev all fell before the fourth round in California. The women’s draw went closer to expectations with three of the top five seeds reaching the semis. Coco Gauff, Jasmine Paolini, Elena Rybakina, and Emma Navarro failed to reach the quarter-finals, however.

Miami Open Men’s Draw

Sinner isn’t competing. Djokovic and Zverev just lost in the second round. Taylor Fritz, who was seeded third at Indian Wells, lost to Draper in straight sets in the fourth round. Ruud fell to Marcos Andres Giron in the second round.

The biggest names arrive in Miami licking their wounds. Carlos Alcaraz is one of the few top players to have performed well last week, reaching the semis before a loss to Draper. Daniil Medvedev showed signs he can return to his best form after a turbulent few months, but he got a bit lucky with the draw and was ultimately battered by Holger Rune in the last four.

Four previous winners are featured in the men’s field in Alcaraz, Medvedvev, Djokovic, and Hubert Hurkacz. This feels like a wide-open event, though.

It’s hard not to be lured in by taking Draper to win this tournament. He just played the best tennis of his life in California, while most of the players ranked above him underperformed dramatically.

Alcaraz feels like the man to beat. His loss to Jiri Lehecka in Doha was the only major black mark in his form book, with a 15-3 record since the turn of the year, and four routine wins before his loss to Draper.

We would also consider backing Rune after wins over Stefanos Tsitsipas and Medvedev at Indian Wells. The Dane had a rough start to 2025, but he plays his best tennis on hard courts with a career 62.9% winning rate. There’s some value there, even if he’s only made two tour finals since the start of last year.

Miami Open Women’s Draw

All of the world’s top 10 are entered into the Miami Open. World number one Sabalenka was in imperious form at Indian Wells. She didn’t drop a set until the final, including a demolition of Keys in the last four. Iga Świątek was similarly impressive and even took the second set 6-1 in her semis loss to Andreeva.

With Sabalenka headlining the top quarter of the draw, there is the potential for some big-time matchups with Rybakina and Collins in the top seed’s section. The betting markets once again have Sabalenka as the favourite for this tournament, and it’s hard to look past the Belarussian despite her final loss in California.

The bottom half of the draw is equally competitive. Świątek – still searching for her first title in 2025 – is likely to have rematches against a couple of players she beat at Indian Wells but might also face her most challenging opponent in Jelena Ostapenko, who has consistently recorded upsets against the Pole.

Both Jessica Pegula and Keys are players to keep an eye on in the bottom half. Each have the talent to go all the way and are fortunate to avoid Sabalenka until the final.

It’s tempting to ride the momentum of Andreeva’s victory last week, but fatigue could be a factor for the Russian amid a packed schedule so far in 2025.

Look for strong American representation in the last eight. Coco Gauff has a favourable path to the quarters and presents decent value to go all the way despite the 21-year-old suffering some poor results since the Australian Open.
