| BY News Team

There is no achievement more prestigious in the tennis world than a Grand Slam. Follow along with us as we count down to the top male and female Grand Slam winners of all-time.

Male

Roger Federer – 20

Stealing third place is the great Roger Federer. His list of accomplishments on the court are endless, but to name just a few he raked in 103 ATP Singles titles – the second most in the Open Era – and a record eight Wimbledon titles which contributed to his 20 Grand Slams prior to his retirement in 2022.

Federer also clocked two Olympic medals, firstly gold in the doubles at the Beijing Olympics and then silver at the singles during the 2012 London Olympics. As well as winning multiple sports related awards, Federer may be happier with the over $130 million he made from prize money alone throughout his career, and the legacy he has created as one of the greatest tennis players of all time.

Novak Djokovic – 21

Second placed Novak Djokovic currently sits on 21 Grand Slams but is vying for the top spot in 2023 with several major tournaments up for grabs. The Serbian also has endless accomplishments on his resume, the most notable of which include a record nine Australian Open titles and having been the world number one player for a record 373 weeks.

Djokovic also holds the record for the most Masters titles of all time on 38, alongside other achievements including becoming the first and only man to ever be the reigning champion of all four majors at the same time across three different surfaces, proving his versatility and consistency at the top. These top-quality performances have helped him raked in a record $160 million in prize money.

Rafael Nadal – 22

Taking pole position is the left-handed Rafael Nadal who currently holds the all-time record with 22 Grand Slam titles across his 22-year career. The Spaniard has claimed 92 ATP Singles titles and holds the record at the French Open with an astounding 14 victories.

The 36-year-old has dominated alongside the two other men on this list for over a decade and are collectively considered the ‘Big Three’ of the greatest male tennis players to ever live, so to head off the list with the most Grand Slams can be considered one hell of an achievement.

Female

Steffi Graf – 22

Steffi Graf is a German professional tennis player who retired aged 30 in 1999. Over her career she boasts several records and can claim her spot as one of the best tennis players of all time. Those records include being ranked world number one for a record 377 weeks as well as remaining the only player from either sex to ever win each major tournament at least four times.

Some even credit Graf with developing the modern tennis style with her ability and aggressive game, which she played mostly from the baseline and is now prolific in modern tennis. Her 22 Grand Slams and 107 singles titles simply top off her incredible and inspiring career.

Serena Williams – 23

Serena Williams surpassed the tennis world to become a global icon in her own right, as well as dominating the Open Era of women’s tennis with the most Grand Slams in this era and the second most of all time, with 23 Grand Slam titles.

The Nike athlete is a household name and after winning four gold medals across three Olympics while still dominating the ATP tour scene, there really isn’t any disputing that she is the first, or second-best female tennis player, to ever grace the sport.

Margaret Court – 24

Margaret Court is a retired Australian professional tennis player who across both genders holds the most Grand Slam titles at 24. What is truly impressive about her career is her insane win record, having won 91% of her Open Era singles matches (608-60) and 91.67% of her Grand Slam singles finals (11-1).

Court also boasts an unequalled 64 major titles and statistically it may be hard for anyone to ever rival her dominance. Her best performances were no doubt in her home country with 11 Australian Open victories, although she also found a lot of success in both the French and US Opens with five wins in each.
