Shanghai Masters Final Predictions: 13/5 Value For Jodar To Beat Compatriot In Tight Showpiece

This is the first-ever all-Spanish hard court Masters final. Jódar, who was ranked outside the world’s top 140 at the start of the year, is the youngest ever finalist at the Shanghai Masters, while Fokina has reached his second career Masters final and his first since the 2022 Monte-Carlo Masters.

It’s the first meeting between the compatriots, with Jódar priced as a narrow favourite in the betting markets – which will come as no surprise to tennis news followers. Fokina’s run has really come out of the blue. It’s included his only two wins over top 10 players since last year’s Washington Open, including Saturday’s remarkable victory against Alexander Zverev.

Jódar, meanwhile, has had some poor results in recent weeks, but it has felt like his season has been building towards this sort of crescendo. The youngster was a quarter-finalist in Madrid and Rome before reaching the last four in Montreal.

A win over Zverev shows Fokina is capable of beating Jódar. If we see the best of Jódar on Sunday, though, it’s hard to see how he loses this one considering he dispatched Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. He’s my fancy in sports betting markets for this clash.
