Taylor Fritz vs Francisco Cerúndolo Prediction

Bet against Taylor Fritz at your peril. The American has dropped 11 games in six sets so far. He didn’t follow up his win in Washington as strongly as he would have liked, but Fritz is a legitimate contender to go all the way at this US Open.

Since winning at Queen’s, Francisco Cerúndolo has gone 0-2 in Montreal and Cincinnati and lost in the first round at Wimbledon. He’s coming off a five-set marathon, which will have taken it out of him.

Alexander Blockx vs Flavio Cobolli Prediction

Alexander Blockx and Flavio Cobolli are meeting for a third time this year. Both of the previous contests were at Masters events, with Blockx defeating Cobolli on Monegasque clay and Cobolli getting the better of the Belgian in Cincinnati.

It’s been a surprisingly tricky path to this stage for Cobolli after dropping the first two sets to Francisco Comesaña and coming from a set down against Tristan Schoolkate. Blockx has only dropped one set in his first two matches.

Cobolli didn’t exactly blow Blockx away in Cincinnati. The extra miles on the legs in the first two rounds could be the difference in humid conditions.

Iga Świątek vs Marie Bouzková Prediction

Iga Świątek is looking somewhere close to her best. The Pole dropped only 10 games across the first two rounds after winning in Toronto and reaching the semis in Cincinnati.

Marie Bouzková has lost her previous three matches against Świątek in emphatic fashion, including a drubbing at this year’s Australian Open. The Czech has started strongly in this event, but she’s not taken a set off a top 10 player since the DC Open in 2024.

Świątek should win this comprehensively. Bouzková can’t live with her in this form.

Anastasia Potapova vs Amanda Anisimova Prediction

Both of these players had to work for their second-round wins. Amanda Anisimova was pushed to three sets by ascendant star Lilli Tagger, while Anastasia Potapova dropped a set to wildcard Léolia Jeanjean.

Curiously, Potapova and Anisimova haven’t met since 2019. After several strong showings during the European clay-court swing, Potapova has gone 3-6 since switching to grass and then hard courts.

Anisimova lost a third-set tiebreak to Jessica Pegula in Cincinnati after big wins over Alexandra Eala and Linda Nosková. Cheered on by her home crowd, Anisimova should get the job done here.
