When Does Wimbledon 2025 Finish?

Wimbledon finishes on July 13. The men’s singles final is the headline event of the day, which is accompanied by the ladies’ doubles final. The ladies’ singles final takes place on July 12.

Is Wimbledon Three Weeks?

No, Wimbledon does not take place over three weeks. It starts on a Monday and finishes on a Sunday.

How Long is Wimbledon?

There are 14 days of play at Wimbledon. The introduction of retractable roofs to the two main courts means there will be at least some matches played on every day of the fortnight at the All England Club.

The middle Sunday didn’t used to have scheduled matches. It was a scheduled day off to allow the grass surfaces to recover, but this is no longer required due to the advancements in technology. Matches would sometimes be pushed onto the middle Sunday anyway if weather had caused delays during the first week.

Why Was Wimbledon Moved Later?

In 2012, it was decided to push Wimbledon back a week from 2015 onwards. This schedule change has remained.

The decision was made to lengthen the grass-court season and build a bigger gap between Roland Garros and Wimbledon. This helps smaller grass-court events to attract crowds and gives players longer time to adjust to grass after the clay-court swing.

In 2012, Wimbledon chairman Philip Brook said, “There is widespread support within the game for extending the gap.

“The best interests of tennis will be served by allowing the players more time to recuperate and to adjust from the clay of Roland Garros to the grass at Wimbledon.

“We think most players will welcome the prospect of a longer grass-court season and spending more time on the softer surface of grass.”

What Happens at Wimbledon the Rest of the Year?

The grounds are in use throughout the year. The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum is open to the public, offering tours and showing various memorabilia from the storied history of the competition, which reaches far before online in-play betting was an option.

The training facilities are used by professional players, club members can attend for matches, and an array of social events take place at Wimbledon’s facilities. It’s never packed like the chaotic Slam fortnight, but the All England Club gets plenty of use throughout the other 50 weeks of the year.
