WTA Records

Since it’s establishment in 1973, the Women’s Tour Association (WTA) has presided over women’s tennis, providing a platform for many of the greats of the game to achieve their legendary status.

We’ve taken a look at all the key records in WTA tennis, from the most Grand Slam wins to the fastest serve, here is an all you need guide for the WTA’s previous winners.

Most Grand Slams

Margaret Court holds the record for the most Grand Slams victories on the WTA, amassing 24 slams between 1960 and 1977. That figure also trumps any achievement on the men’s side of the game too, making the Australian the most successful player in tennis history.

Serena Williams is second on the list, narrowly behind Court on 23.

Most Singles Titles

Margaret Court also holds the record for the most WTA singles titles, accumulating a massive 192 in her career, with 92 of those coming in the Open Era.

Martina Navratilova is second in the standings on 167.

Most Doubles Titles

Martina Navratilova holds the record for the most WTA doubles titles, with 177 titles to her name across her marathon 32-year career. That figure is a whopping 65 titles more than Rosie Casals in second place.

Most Final Appearances

Martina Navratilova also holds the record for the most WTA final appearances with an astounding 239, narrowly ahead of Margaret Court with 233.

Fastest Serve

Sabine Lisicki holds the record for the fastest ever serve in the women’s game, clocking a rapid 131mph (210kph) in the 2014 Stanford Classic against Ana Ivanovic. Sadly for the German, it proved to be in vain as she lost in straight sets.
