GOOD MORNING AND WELCOME!
This is it. The Big One. The first of maybe many summer transfer windows to shut before the season begins. Manchester United vs Leicester is merely one day away but all eyes will be closing in on what is likely to be a frantic and hectic closing window. Remember, Premier League clubs must have all their business done by 5pm TODAY.
CHELSEA CAPTURE KEPA
The big news of the past 24 hours has all centered around Chelsea. The Blues completed the £71m signing of 23-year-old Athletic Bilbao goakeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga - a world record fee for a goalkeeper and a Chelsea club transfer record. Earlier that day, Real Madrid agreed a deal that would see Thibaut Courtois join Los Blancos and Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic head the other way on season-long loan. Kepa has made only 53 La Liga appearances but his excellent performances earned him a call-up to Spain\'s 2018 World Cup squad.
ACTIVITY STILL EXPECTED AFTER TODAY
Remember, today is the Premier League deadline for incoming signings. That means players can still leave on loan for English Football League clubs until 31 August and to foreign clubs (permanent or loan) and until their transfer windows close. So there may well be more activity after today.
EVERTON WANT GOMES ALONGSIDE MINA
The Daily Mail reckon Everton will try for Barcelona outcast Andre Gomes after sealing deals for Yerry Mina and Bernard. The Barcelona center-back is widely expected to join Everton having been consistently linked with Manchester United. Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker Bernard is also expected to join having arrived in England yesterday for his medical. The 25-year old Brazilian scored an incredible goal against Manchester City in the Champions League last season.
JOE BRYAN SNUBS VILLA FOR FULHAM
Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan had been set for a move to Aston Villa yesterday, having agreed terms and booked a medical with the Championship club. But in an interesting turn of events, Fulham picked up the phone and offered Bryan a lucrative move to the Premier League he could not refuse. The 24-year-old\'s proposed £6m move to Villa has subsequently collapsed and according to Sky Sports the player is set for his Fulham medical this morning.

Man Utd fail with Godin contact

However, the Uruguayan would rather stay at Atletico and is in talks to extend his deal which currently runs til 2019.
MOURINHO \'NOT CONFIDENT\' OF SIGNING DEFENDER
Will Manchester United go into their Premier League season opener without a new centre-back? Jose Mourinho certainly thinks so. The United coach is \'not confident\' of signing a new player having been rebuffed by Diego Godin and seen bids for Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld fail to materialise. Is there a fall-out between Mourinho and chief executive Ed Woodward on the horizon? Several reports indicate the atmosphere around Old Trafford has been tense in recent weeks.

A FLURRY OF LATE DEALS
Yesterday wasn\'t the transfer deadline day people had hoped for but a scurry of late deals managed the lighten up the mood - especially if you were an Everton or Fulham fan. Leicester too managed to drag the signing of highly-rated Freigburg and Turkey defender Caglar Soyuncu over the line after sealing a deal for Filip Benkovic earlier that day. Fulham meanwhile announced five players after the deadline: Marseille midfielder Andre-Frank Anguissa in a £22.3m deal, Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan for £6m and Sergio Rico, Luciano Vietto and Timothy Fosu-Mensah on loan.
