Bet on the BAFTA TV Awards 2024 with William Hill

Best Actor

In this category, it’s Brian Cox who looks to be the shoo-in for the award for his portrayal of Logan Roy in season four of the hit HBO TV series Succession. Cox leads the market at the short price of 1/4 to pick up his first BAFTA for Best Actor, with his last nomination over thirty years ago in 1993 for his BBC Two show The Lost Language of Cranes. Second in the betting is the familiar household name Steve Coogan (4/1) who is also looking for his first TV BAFTA for Best Actor for his depiction of Jimmy Saville in BBC One’s mini drama series, The Reckoning. Timothy Spall had been nominated in this category four times and has never won, and is 5/1 to see his fortunes change this year for his part in BBC One’s true crime television drama The Sixth Commandment.

The other three nominations include Dominic West (6/1) for his depiction of Prince Charles in The Crown, Paapa Essiedu (7/1) as George in The Lazarus Project, and Kane ‘Kano’ Robinson (10/1) as Sully in Top Boy.

Best Actress

Sarah Lancashire has received four nominations in this category now, picking up the award in 2017 for her performance as Catherine Cawood in BBC One’s Happy Valley, and fast forward seven years, she finds herself the heavy favourite at 2/7 for the same role. The next best in the betting is Sharon Horgan (11/4) for her portrayal of the character Nicci in the four-part drama series Best Interests, and this is her debut nomination in this category. Another debutant nominated for this year’s Best Actress category is Bella Ramsey (4/1) as Ellie in Sky Atlantic’s hit show The Last of Us, which turned many heads this year having been adapted successfully from the popular console game.

Helena Bonham Carter (5/1) receives her third nod in this category for her part in Nolly, having been absent from nominations since 2014. Anne Reid, for her role in The Sixth Commandment, sits behind at 13/2, with Anjana Vasan the backmarker at 10/1 for her performance in Black Mirror – Demon 79.

Best Drama Series

Four shows look to be battling it out in the Best Drama Series category, with Happy Valley taking the top spot at 1/4. The series has been running since 2014 and has attracted continuous attention since then, winning this category for each of the first two seasons in 2015 and 2017, with the third a firm favourite to make it three from three. Apple TV’s Slow Horses sits second in the betting at 3/1 as a debut nomination, narrowly ahead of other debutant and Netflix’s sole nomination Top Boy. The final nomination in this category is The Gold which sits as the backmarker at 13/2 to pick up the prestigious award.

Best International Programme

Six shows make the shortlist for the Best International Programme at this year’s BAFTAs ceremony, with Succession taking pole position at 1/2 to pick up the award. At a close second sits The Bear at 7/4, which has garnered plenty of attention with Jeremy Allen White as the lead role. The Last of Us is in third at 7/2, with the second season eagerly anticipated by fans around the world.

The final three to round off the category are Beef, exclusive to Netflix, which shot to fame when it hit the streaming platform, at 5/1. The other selections include Love & Death just behind at 6/1, and Class Act the back marker at 12/1.
