Dancing on Ice preview: Coronation Street star Faye Brookes tipped for glory

| BY News Team

The wait is over as the 13th series of Dancing on Ice arrives on our screens on Sunday.

As ever, a host of celebrities will be taking to the ice to strut their stuff with the aim of being crowned the Dancing on Ice king or queen come the end of the series.

Ahead of the first show, we take a look at which contestants are the early favourites to go all the way.

Faye Brookes

At the top of the betting ahead of the first show is former Coronation Street star Faye Brooks at 2/1. Faye is best known for playing Kate Connor on Corrie, first joining the soap in 2015 before departing in 2019. Faye has a history of starring in leading theatre productions over the years and will be hoping to lead from the front once she’s out on the ice. At 33, she’s one of the younger skaters in the line-up, which could well work in her favour.

Colin Jackson

Next in line in the running for the Dancing on Ice crown is a man no stranger to gold: Colin Jackson. Former sprint and hurdling athlete Colin enjoyed a sparkling career, becoming world champion twice, winning an Olympic silver medal and setting a world record of 12.91 seconds for the 110m hurdles, which lasted for well over a decade. At 4/1, Colin is fancied to translate that success from the track onto the ice.

Denise Van Outen

Sitting third in the betting is a contestant that can call on previous reality TV success in Denise Van Outen. TV presenter Denise wowed the judges and viewers at home alike with her displays on series 10 of Strictly Come Dancing back in 2012 as she ended up finishing runner-up to Louis Smith. She’s 13/2 to go one better this year on Dancing on Ice.

Graham Bell

It’s been a turbulent week for ex-Olympic skier Graham Bell after he was forced to pull out of his debut performance this weekend following an injury to his professional skating partner. Graham will instead skate as part of the second group of celebrities the following week. Being a former skier, he’s no stranger to ice and is 7/1 to rise to the summit of the Dancing on Ice mountain.

Joe-Warren Plant

Rounding off the top five favourites is Emmerdale star Joe-Warren Plant. Joe has played Jacob Gallagher in Emmerdale since 2010, but how will he fare on the ice? Only time will tell… Joe is 15/2 to triumph this series.

Best of the rest

With 12 contestants in all competing this series, there’s a number of other celebs hoping to be in the running. Myleene Klass and Jason Donovan are next in line at 10/1, with Rebekah Vardy and Billie Shepherd following at 14/1 and 16/1 respectively. Meanwhile, Sonny Jay is priced at 20/1 with Rufus Hound and Lady Leshurr at 28/1 and 33/1 respectively.
