David Potts: I’m loving the awkwardness of Celebs Go Dating mansion!

If there’s anyone who knows anything about awkward blind dates, it’s David Potts. The Ibiza Weekender celebrity infamously threw up beside his date during an appearance on Celebs Go Dating but claims that’s nothing compared to the exploits of the stars and their dates in the latest series.

The TV reality star, also known as El Jefe, spoke fondly of his time on the show and claims he is loving the new series.

He said: “I’ve never really been one to go on so many dates, so I was extremely excited to put myself out there on Celebs Go Dating.

“My first ever blind date was on the show and it wasn’t too bad – other than me throwing up everywhere! The dates on the show were so much fun. I’m not a shy person, so I can chat to anyone if they will listen.

“I’m loving the new series! I think it’s such a great way to change things up in the mansion by having the celebrities and their dates living together.

“There’s no getting away from your dates. So, if you don’t like someone it could be rather awkward, and I live for awkward situations!”

The Manchester lad also welcomed the new format of the show, which has drawn comparisons to popular ITV reality TV series Love Island after celebrities and their dates were thrown into the new mansion to live with each other.

“They are very similar in terms of they are all in one place and people are going on dates. However, Love Island has different content like challenges and Casa Amor. Both are exciting to watch!” he remarked.

“They are definitely rival shows, to a certain extent, but they are very different kinds of shows as Celebs Go Dating casts celebrities, while Love island doesn’t and also casts young people.

“I definitely think the new series of CGD has spiced things right up.”.

David, who made a name for himself as a rep on Ibiza Weekender, claims that Chloe Ferry has been his favourite celebrity so far, but he picked a fellow reality TV star as the one he’d like to date.

He said: “My favourite has to be Chloe. She’s got an amazing personality and she’s been just brilliant to watch.

“I’d definitely most like to date Lockie (James Lock). Not only is he absolutely unreal, but I feel like he’s got pure banter as well.”

David also feels he has more to offer in reality TV and has eyed up a slot on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! to help him stay in shape.

He said: “I like to do things that are fun and challenging. I would love to do I’m a Celeb because not only would it help me lose weight, but it would be so challenging. And I do love a cheeky dance, so Dancing On Ice would be fun!

“I’m keen to do more presenting because I loved that, and it felt so natural. I’ve been speaking about my own show for a while and let’s just say I’m not the only one speaking about it.”
