Eurovision predictions & tips for 2024

| BY News Team

The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will be the 68th edition of the competition when contestants take to the stage in Sweden next month.

Below we take you through tips and predictions from this year’s event. Let the party begin!

2024 Eurovision Song Contest – Where and When?

The Eurovision 2024 Grand Final is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024. The semi-finals will air just days before on Tuesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 9. The competition will be broadcast on the BBC in the UK.

Croatia are the 1/2 favourites to win the first semi-final, while the Netherlands are the 8/11 favourites to win the second.

Every year the winning country earns the right to host the following year’s contest. Therefore, this year it is scheduled to take place in Malmö, Sweden, following the country’s victory at the 2023 contest with the song “Tattoo” by Loreen.

Other facts

Popstar Olly Alexander will be representing the UK at Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with his single ‘Dizzy’, which was initially expected to trouble the top of the leaderboards but has lost momentum upon the reveal of some other country’s tracks.

Luxembourg will return to Eurovision after a huge 30 years of absence. They sit as rank outsiders (250/1) but may be worth an each way nibble if the public take the returning nation into their hearts. William Hill are paying top four in the Eurovision.

Romania is the only country from Eurovision 2023 that won’t participate in Eurovision 2024.

Top 3 in the market

SWITZERLAND: Nemo – The Code – 15/8

The country last won in 1988, but they are set to be back at number one as Eurovision could have its first ever non-binary winner.

CROATIA: Baby Lasagna – Rim Tim Tagi Dim – 10/3

The catchy culinary tune has captured the attention of many in the build up and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Croatia win their first Eurovision.

ITALY: Angelina Mango – La noia – 9/2

Angelina Mango is looking to bring Eurovision back to Italy much like Måneskin did in 2021. This modern sound will undoubtedly get the crowd on side.

Worth noting in the market

NETHERLANDS: Joost Klein – Europapa – 6/1

UKRAINE: Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil – Teresa & Maria – 13/2

GREECE: Marina Satti – ZARI – 20/1

FRANCE: Slimane – Mon amour – 20/1

BELGIUM: Mustii – Before The Party’s Over – 25/1

ISRAEL: Eden Golan – Hurricane – 28/1

UNITED KINGDOM: Olly Alexander – Dizzy – 28/1

How does the voting work?

The semi-finals are decided entirely by a public vote from competing countries and people in the rest of the world. For the final, every country which qualifies awards two sets of scores: one from a jury of experts and one by fans. Each of their 10 favourite songs is given points – but they can’t vote for their own country’s song.

We hope you enjoy the Eurovision song contest as much as we will, enjoy!
