David Beckham Odds to Replace Monty Don on Gardeners’ World
William Hill make Frances Tophill the most likely candidate to take over as the new Gardeners’ World host following the news that long-time lead presenter Monty Don is stepping down.
Tophill – a contributor to Gardeners’ World for over a decade – is the leading contender ahead of colleague and seven-time Chelsea Garden Show gold medallist Adam Frost, who has a 2/1 chance of being the next host.
The leading bookmaker also quotes a 5/1 for the show to function without a lead presenter for its next series, while former Groundforce faces Charlie Dimmock (50/1) and Alan Titchmarsh (100/1) are less likely to land the job.
Sir David Beckham has been spotted tending keenly to his allotment on social media and we make it a 200/1 shot that he takes the role.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “It’s the end of an era for Gardeners’ World fans with Monty Don stepping back from presenting the show and the speculation about who’ll replace him is beginning to grow.
“The early front-runner at 13/8 to head up the next series of Gardners’ World is Frances Tophill. She’s very well-established on the show and looks like being given a chance to bloom as host, though her co-presenter Adam Frost also looks an obvious contender at 2/1.”
“Old favourites Charlie Dimmock (50/1) and Alan Titchmarsh (100/1), wouldn’t take much bedding in given their experience, but are very much outsiders, while keen gardener Sir David Beckham is offered up at 200/1.”
