Next James Bond Odds: Sydney Sweeney Enters Betting as Theo James Becomes New Favourite
Actress Sydney Sweeney has joined the race to become the next James Bond, entering William Hill’s betting market after joking she’d rather play 007 than a Bond girl.
Sweeney, star of Euphoria and Anyone But You, is a 33/1 shot to take on the iconic spy role, making her the shortest-priced female in the betting and one of the more eye-catching new additions to the market.
At the top of the board, The White Lotus and Divergent actor Theo James has surged into favouritism at 2/1, having been priced at 8/1 earlier in the week. His rise sees him overtake recent frontrunners Callum Turner (5/2 from 2/1) and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (4/1 from 3/1).
William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “Sydney Sweeney is thought to be being lined up for a co-starring role in the new Bond film but recent comments saying she’d have ‘more fun as James Bond’ have led us to add her to our next Bond market at 33/1.
“If we are to see a female Bond, then it could well be Sweeney, with the American by some way the shortest female candidate in our market.
“At the front of the market, a major shift has seen Theo James leap ahead of his contenders – surging from 8/1 into 2/1 favourite in the last 48 hours. James now leads Callum Turner (5/2), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (4/1) and Henry Cavill (6/1) in the running.”

The Bond betting market has seen frequent movement in recent weeks as speculation intensifies over who will take over from Daniel Craig.
Theo James’s surge to 2/1 follows a strong run of form in high-profile roles, including HBO’s The White Lotus and Netflix’s The Gentlemen, which have bolstered his credentials as a leading man.
Callum Turner, who recently starred in Masters of the Air, remains a close second favourite, while Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who was long considered the frontrunner after reported screen tests earlier this year, has drifted slightly to 4/1.
Henry Cavill, once a strong contender, continues to slide down the market at 6/1 amid speculation producers are looking for a younger 007 to lead the franchise for the next decade.
Sydney Sweeney’s addition has also added a new perspective to the market. The American star recently joked in an interview that she’d have “more fun being Bond than being a Bond girl,” prompting William Hill to open a price on her as a potential dark horse for the role.
Her inclusion at 33/1 makes her the shortest-priced woman in the market, ahead of other female names such as Lashana Lynch and Jodie Comer, both of whom remain longer odds.
