Strictly Come Dancing 2020: Is there any stopping Bill Bailey?

| BY News Team

What a start to the series it’s been so far, with last week’s face-off between former favourite Maisie Smith and Max George showing nobody is safe.

It was Max who ended up being eliminated – a shock exit to fans glued to their TV screens – but who will shine this weekend as we head into week five?

We’ve taken a look at which celebrities are currently in the running for the Glitterball Trophy.

Bill Bailey – 4/6

Bill Bailey’s stunning rise up the ranks continues, with the comedian now the clear odds-on favourite for glory this year. The comedian’s odds have shortened once more to 4/6 following last week’s excellent Couples Choice performance to the tune of The Sugarhill Gang’s ‘Rapper’s Delight’. That display saw Bill rack up a cool 27 points from the judges – including a 10 – alongside his dance partner Oti Mabuse – the joint-second best total of the night. Up next for Bill is the American Smooth to ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’ by Frank Sinatra – can he continue his impressive campaign this weekend?

HRVY – 9/2

HRVY has sat towards the top of the betting since the start of the series, though at 9/2 his odds for victory have drifted slightly from last week as Bill rampages ahead. This series will be full of plenty more twists and turns, however, and HRVY looks likely to remain in the running until the end based on the majority of his displays so far. Like Bill, he picked up 27 points from the judges last week with his Salsa to ‘Dynamite’ by BTS, including the first 10 of the series. HRVY and his dance partner Janette Manrara will be hoping for more of the same this weekend when they perform the Tango to ‘Golden’ by Harry Styles.

Clara Amfo – 5/1

While Bill and HRVY both managed an impressive 27 points last week, Clara Amfo was the clear winner on the night with 29 points, which included two 10s from the judges. Their stunning performance of the Charleston to ‘Baby Face’ by Julie Andrews was enough for Clara to edge into the top three in the betting for the Glitterball Trophy, with the radio and television presenter currently priced at 5/1. Up next for Clara and her dance partner Aljaz Škorjanec is the Samba to ‘That’s The Way I Like It’ by KC And The Sunshine Band – a repeat performance here and her odds will surely shorten rather dramatically.

Best of the rest

It’s been quite the fall for Maisie Smith. The early frontrunner in the betting for so long, after last week’s performance that saw her slip into the elimination face-off, her odds have now drifted significantly to 7/1.

Behind Maisie is Ranvir Singh at 16/1, while Jamie Laing (40/1) and Caroline Quentin (50/1) follow, with JJ Chalmers rounding off the betting at odds of 100/1 for victory.
