Russia’s 5-0 demolition of Saudi Arabia dispelled any pre-tournament nerves and the home nation will feel confident of claiming another three points against an Egyptian side that suffered a late heartbreak against Uruguay.
Will Mohammed Salah play?
Egypt’s medical staff will leave it late to declare the fitness of Mohammed Salah, who is yet to make an appearance despite making the bench for Egypt’s opener. The Egyptian Football Federation reiterated he would be fit to face Russia and it did make sense for Salah to avoid the physical nature of Uruguay. Mohamed Salah was 4/1 to score first but is now 11/2.
Egypt produced a resilient performance against Uruguay and the return of their talismanic Liverpool front man would undoubtedly galvanise The Pharaohs as they continue searching for their first World Cup finals win against the tournament hosts. Salah to score and Egypt to win is currently 11/2..
Russia have already scored more than the two goals scored during the entire previous World Cup in Brazil, and another victory this evening will almost certainly result in progressing to the knockout stages for the first time since the 1986 World Cup. Midfielder Aleksander Golovin scored one and provided two assists in a dream World Cup debut against Saudi Arabia. Golivin is currently 8/1 t score first against Egypt and will be hoping to continue his fine form.
