7/2 girls on top in Shergar
The Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup teams have been announced today and this year three of the most successful female jockeys of all time - Chantal Sutherland, Hayley Turner, and Emma-Jayne Wilson - line-up as part of the first all-female team in the history of the competition.
The all-girl trio, with Turner as captain, will compete against their male counterparts who represent Great Britain & Ireland, Europe and the Rest of the World, and bookmakers William Hill are quoting 7-2 that the girls will best the boys in the Ascot highlight.
The firm also quote 7-2 for any of the trio to win the coveted ‘Silver Saddle' award - and be the top jockey of the meeting.
William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes said "With two of the most successful sportswomen from overseas joining our very own Group One-winning leading lady Hayley Turner, the girls will be a force to be reckoned with in their very first Shergar Cup team attempt"

HERE COME THE GIRLS!
Chantal Sutherland - also a part-time model and face of a cosmetic brand - is the leading lady jockey in both the US and her homeland of Canada, boasting a career-total nearing 1000 winners. Sutherland is the first female jockey to win the Grade One Santa Anita Handicap aboard the Bob Baffert-trained Game On Dude, before partnering the gelding to finish runner-up in the Breeders' Cup Classic. She is the first woman in history to ride in the world's richest race, the Dubai World Cup.
Hayley Turner is widely-regarded as the most successful British jockey of all time. 2011 saw her become the first lady to win a Group One race outright with success in the July Cup aboard Dream Ahead, before repeating the feat only a month later in the Group One Nunthorpe Stakes at York. She was recently only the second lady jockey in history to take up a ride in Flat racing's Blue Riband event - the Epsom Derby. Turner has competed in the Shergar Cup on six occasions - captaining the GB team during three of those years. She was runner-up to Hugh Bowman in the 2007 Silver Saddle.
Emma Jayne-Wilson, who also hails from Canada, has enjoyed nearly 1000 winners throughout her career, becoming the first female rider to taste success in part of Canada's Triple Crown - the Grade One Queen's Plate. Her first ride in the Breeders' Cup in 2011 saw her finish runner-up in the Grade One Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf. Wilson won the inaugural Pimlico Female Jockey Challenge in 2011, and this will be her second visit to Ascot to contest the Shergar Cup, having also participated in 2006.
