Boat Race: Pinsent 20/1 To Disqualify Crew
Boat Race: Record Time Pushed Out And Pinsent 20/1 To Disqualify Crew
With choppy conditions predicted for this Sunday's boat race, William Hill have pushed out the odds of either crew setting a record breaking time from 10/1 to 14/1 and sensationally cut the price of either boat sinking from 40/1 to 33/1.
"There have been some recent high profile race postponements on the Tideway, not least last weekend and while there is virtually no chance that the boat race will be postponed, the conditions will prove tricky to even these most experienced of oarsmen," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
With Matthew Pinsent as the high profile umpire this year, it is 20/1 that he disqualifies either crew during the race.
Oxford are the 2/5 favourites to win this year's boat race with Cambridge 7/4 and the dead heat 100/1.
William Hill have not seen a huge surge of money for the race just yet although most of the cash has been for the favourites. Instead, as like most years, the majority of the money will be expected to arrive on the day with anywhere up to £100,000 expected to be wagered on the market during the last couple of hours.
"We have a number of William Hill betting shops in the vicinity of the course and they are often packed to the rafters on boat race day with people desperate to back their friends, family, alumni or just the boat they think will win," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
