Countdown to Eurovision, Englebert to challenge?
Eurovision Song Contest: £100,000 The Hump On Course To Be Best Backed UK Entry In History!
Englebert Humperdinck is 10/1 with William Hill to win the Eurovision Song Contest, in a vintage year, where William Hill have seen turnover punch through the £100,000 mark with almost a week to go. That said, some punters are not convinced by Englebert's first practice and there are two distinct groups, those who are backing him to win and others who now expect him to fail to even make the top ten. The favourites are Sweden at 7/4 with only Russia & Italy ahead of the UK at 7/1, Ireland have drifted from 20/1 to 25/1.
"Englebert's participation has certainly stirred up strong feelings, he is a real marmite competitor. He is one of the best supported competitors in years, yet he has also been backed to fail. Personally I am a believer!" said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
