A 14/1 Build #YourOdds for Man City v Real Madrid

| BY News Team

We’ve reached the semi-final stage of this season’s Champions League, where both clashes see English clubs face Spanish opposition. Who’ll reach next month’s final?

The first tie sees Premier League leaders Man City come up against La Liga champions-elect Real Madrid. The sides meet in the 2019/20 Round of 16 when the Sky Blues came out on top, winning 4-2 on aggregate.

Before kick-off for both semi-final ties, you can get a £5 free bet when you stake £5 using Build #YourOdds. Our team have put together this 14/1 bet for the first leg from the Etihad Stadium.

Both teams to score

Goals have been easy to come by for both teams in this season’s competition. Man City have scored 24 times, two more than Real Madrid (22). While at the other end, it’s Los Blancos who have a better defensive record, conceding nine goals to City’s 10.

Both teams have scored in seven of Real’s last 10 games in all competitions, including league wins over Sevilla (3rd) and Osasuna (9th).

Meanwhile City’s defence has seemingly struggled against some of the Premier League’s stronger sides. Both games against title rivals Liverpool ended 2-2, Spurs won 3-2 at the Etihad in February and even Man Utd found the net.

Pep Guardiola’s men have conceded 10 goals in their last eight home league games, which should give hope to an end-to-end encounter.

We’re also offering Double #YourOdds on the match. Here’s the market that’s now priced at 6/1.

Over 5.5 Man City corners

Man City will want to make their home advantage count, so they could fly out of the traps and put early pressure on their Spanish visitors.

No side has taken more corners in the Premier League than Man City (278), an average of 8.4 per game. While they’ve had 69 corners in 10 matches in this comp – 6.9 per game

In the league, they’ve hit 6+ corners in 16 of 17 matches at the Etihad. Plus, they’ve taken over 5.5 corners in all five Champions League home games this season (6, 7, 7, 7, 9). It’s another nice angle to have on side for this first leg.

Karim Benzema to score anytime

Only Robert Lewandowski (13) has scored more goals in this season’s Champions League than Karim Benzema (12).

The French forward has been in a rich vein of form, scoring 14 goals in his last 10 appearances in all competitions. It’s a run that includes hat-tricks against PSG and Chelsea.

A fine scoring record, which is bolstered by the shooting data. The 34-year-old has hit 38 shots, 19 of which have hit the target – no player has had more. So, if you’re looking for a Madrid candidate to breach this City defence, the obvious option is Benzema.

Eder Militao to be carded

The Real Madrid centre-half returns to the Champions League fray after being suspended for their second leg against Chelsea.

In this season’s competition, the Brazilian has committed the second-most fouls in the Madrid ranks, picking up three yellows. While in La Liga, he’s been shown five cautions, including in his last outing against Osasuna.

Romanian referee Istvan Kovacs takes charge. He’s shown 21 yellows in four Champions League matches this season, an average of 5.25 per game.

He’s already overseen two Man City games, showing nine cards, six of which went to opposing players.

Given Militao’s record this season and who he’ll come up against, then he could have his hands full.

Man City v Real Madrid tips:

  • Both teams to score
  • Over 5.5 Man City corners
  • Karim Benzema to score anytime
  • Eder Militao to be carded

A Build #YourOdds bet with those four selections pays 14/1.
