Premier League tips

The Premier League season has begun, and it looks set to be a very competitive year at both ends of the table.

One team that will be looking to improve on their performance last year and break into the top four are Tottenham, who looked set to finish in the Champions League spots before being pipped to fourth by Aston Villa.

On the whole, it was an encouraging season for Spurs fans, who would have been disappointed with their final finish but showed signs of progression under new boss Ange Postecoglou. Tottenham have been busy in the summer transfer window, most notably bringing in youngster Archie Gray from Leeds and Dominic Solanke, a centre forward they look to have been crying out for since the departure of Harry Kane.

There’s reasons to be enthused about Spurs’ chances this season, our list looks at the likeliest outcomes for them this campaign.

Top Six finish – 8/13

Frankly, Tottenham should be finishing inside the top six this season. They have kept the same core of the squad from the previous season which saw them comfortably finish in fifth place last year and have added a proven Premier League striker in Solanke to their attacking ranks

Despite a disappointing result to open their campaign away at Leicester, there were positives to take from the game. The number of chances they created was encouraging – they just needed to be more clinical and they’d of had the game tied up by half time.

There’s no reason to expect that Solanke won’t be regularly getting on the scoresheet this season, so 8/13 for a top six finish looks good amongst several teams you can have a question mark over.

Top Four finish – 2/1

At a bigger price, the 2/1 for Spurs to go one place better than last season and finish inside the top four also appeals. They just fell short last year to Aston Villa, who sprung a surprise to fill the final Champions League place.

It looks a tall order for Villa to follow up their successes last season –  with added stresses of Champions League football, league form may suffer as a result.

It is widely expected that Manchester City and Arsenal will battle out for the title again, which fills two spots. Other than that, you can’t be certain of any other sides who will likely be in the race.

Liverpool (2/5) and Manchester United (7/4) are two teams shorter in the market than Tottenham for top four, but both teams have concerns which may affect their form this season.

Liverpool, once again, are back into the Champions League and are getting used to life under new manager Arne Slot, so there may be a slight transitionary period which could see their form falter.

Whilst Manchester United have strengthened over the summer, they still need to prove they can get back to the level that is expected of them, but the signings are ambitious, and they could be a danger to Spurs’ hopes of Champions League qualification this season.

Tottenham look a solid option for the top four this season having had a good summer retaining their important players and adding quality where needed, under a manager in Ange Postecoglou who has now had over a year working with the team. All these factors will surely benefit Spurs, who look to set to go one better this year.
