William Hill ambassador Nick Luck previews Ebor Day at York.

Saturday, York

PHANTOM FLIGHT is a spot of value to win the Strensall at York on Saturday (1.50). It could be that he gets another softish time on the front on a track that has played for speed all week. Callum Shepherd seems to get a good tune out of him.

TOO BOSSY FOR US gets the nod in the Melrose (2.25). Progressive and apparently a pretty thorough stayer, he ran exceptionally well behind an in form and well handicapped rival at Haydock. He is better drawn than most of his key rivals here to boot.

LAKE FOREST may now be the bet in the City of York (3.00). It’s not certain he wants this trip, but he’d certainly shaped promisingly finishing good six furlong races this year. More compelling is that he showed a great liking for this track when winning the Gimcrack last year.

ZIGGY has added his name to the Ebor shortlist (3.35). He is a likeable genuine pace pusher who has shown his best form here. A half brother to You Got to Me, he promises to improve further for the trip. My fancies from earlier in the week, Relentless Voyager and Crystal Delight will both take some of my money as well, but have not enjoyed any luck with the draw.

COMMANCHE FALLS could strike in the Constantine from stall one from a mark that is his lowest in two years (4.10).

VINGEGAARD is worth another chance in the Roses (4.45), while OVIEDO is down to a competitive mark in the finale (5.20).
