24/25 Jumps Stable Tour
It’s that time of year again as the Flat season comes to a close and we turn our attention to all things Jumps racing. We’ve had some class jumpers in the yard for a long time, but there’s no better place to start than with Inothewayurthinkin. He took a little bit of time to get going last year but progressed markedly at the end of the season with wins at the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals. Because he only broke his duck over fences in the Kim Muir, he still retains his novice status until the Drinmore, and that will be his first target. He has done everything right at home since he’s been back from his summer break, and we have high hopes for him this season.
Flooring Porter has been a superstar for us for many, many years now. It was great to see him win the Kerry National last month and as we said recently here, the Cleeve Hurdle is our main target at this stage. We’ve decided that the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan in November is going to be his next race, and I hope that it can be third time lucky in the event for him.
Limerick Lace was another Cheltenham Festival winner for us last term, and so we’re looking forward to getting her back. I think we’ll look to keep her to mares’-only company this year, with defending her crown in the Mares’ Chase the main priority. She looks well at the minute and it’s great to have her to go to war with this season.
Next Saturday’s Masterson Holdings Hurdle at Cheltenham is where we’re going to start Bottler’secret this term. He is a nice horse who we’re looking forward to in his second season over hurdles, especially after the promise he showed last season. I think he’ll be fairly fit and ready for Cheltenham next week, or as fit as we can get him, and hopefully he can progress how we’d like him to this campaign.
Unfortunately, Brides Hill has picked up a little setback which will keep her off the track until the new year. Once she’s back and fit, we’d like to think that she’ll be going for the Mares’ Chase at Cheltenham, which she was unable to take part in last year on account of the ground.
We were disappointed that Sixandahalf couldn’t run in the Cesarewitch last weekend, and we’ve decided to give her a nice little break now. We’re planning on sending her to a maiden hurdle around Christmas time, and who knows, she may develop into a Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle type.
Visionarian landed a nice prize earlier this month at Gowran, and he could be heading to Down Royal’s Grade One Champion Chase in a few weeks’ time. It hasn’t been totally plain sailing with him so far, as he’s missed a few races on account of the ground, but if it’s suitable, that might be the plan.
Dark horse: Noticebox is a youngster we like a lot. He fell at the last in his Point for Johnny Hurley when with every chance, and has done everything nicely at home since we’ve had him. He looks to have plenty of gears and is a horse who finds going fast easy. He’ll be aimed at a bumper this side of Christmas and we’re excited about what he could do on the track.
Munster National thoughts
Perceval Legallois, Yeah Man, Law Ella and Ask Anything are all entered in Sunday’s Munster National Limerick. It’s touch and go whether they’ll all get in, but of my lot I’d hope that Law Ella would be one of my better chances, as I liked how she ran at Listowel recently. Perceval Legallois was a little disappointing behind Flooring Porter in the Kerry National, but hopefully he can bounce back to some better form.
