Circuit preview
The Autódromo José Carlos Pace plays host to this year’s race as it has done since 1971, a short circuit in comparison to other tracks that the drivers have encountered, it’s a fast lap with snaking corners which encourages aggressive and front-footed driving.
Race preview
With just four races left in the season, the Championship race is heating up in both categories. Lando Norris is still chasing Max Verstappen and, whilst the Brit is making inroads into Verstappen’s lead, he still finds himself 57 points behind the Red Bull driver in the standings. Verstappen’s early season work may well have done enough to see off the challenge of Norris, who is 3/1, who would have to win at least three of the four races remaining with Verstappen underachieving to clinch the Drivers’ Championship.
The Constructors’ race looks a lot more competitive after Ferrari’s form of recent weeks, seeing them shorten to 13/8 second favourites in the market. McLaren still head the market at 4/9 with a 29-point advantage but if Ferrari can continue their streak of victories, those prices will be closer together into the last three races.
Lando Norris heads the market at 2/1 for the Brazilian Grand Prix, the Brit produced a strong drive to finish second in Mexico however he needs points on the board and fast and it would’ve been frustrating that he couldn’t overhaul Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc late on to secure maximum advantage. He has a favourite’s chance but may find one driver too quick and is worth passing over at the price.
The Ferrari pair Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have both been priced up at the price of 5/2 and it isn’t hard to see why after recent races. Leclerc won in the United States Grand Prix before Sainz’s victory in Mexico, there’s no doubt Ferrari are the form team. 4/5 about one of the drivers to win is on the skinny side but it’s difficult to see past the Scuderia if they perform as they have in recent weeks.
Of the rest, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri follows at 7/1. A maiden winner this season, Piastri possesses the pace to win races, but team orders may look to prioritise Norris’ title charge in the back stretch of this season.
Max Verstappen must be of some interest at 10/1 here. It was a race to forget in Mexico after a positive start where he fell foul of the FIA, receiving a 20 second penalty for a contentious move against championship rival Lando Norris. The penalty dealt a large blow to his chances of a podium in the race but for a driver who qualified second on the grid, he still has the pace to compete here and 10/1 looks a good bet each way.
