Six Nations Wooden Spoon Tips: Wales Clear Favourites To Finish Bottom

With round one of the Six Nations now over, Wales are the clear favourites with William Hill to finish bottom of this year’s competition ahead of their potential Wooden Spoon decider against Italy on Saturday afternoon.
Following the 43-0 defeat to France on the opening weekend, Warren Gatland’s side are now priced at 2/5 in our rugby union betting odds to pick up the Wooden Spoon this year.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Warren Gatland’s Wales side were unable to get on the scoreboard against France and as such we have cut them to 4/9 to finish bottom of the pile at this year’s Six Nations.
“They’ll want to avoid back-to-back Wooden Spoons and their hopes of doing so will likely rest on the result of Saturday’s game against Italy, for which they are 11/5 underdogs to win in Rome.”
Six Nations Wooden Spoon Odds:
- Wales – 2/5
- Italy – 15/8
- England – 25/1
- Scotland – 28/1
- Ireland – 500/1
- France – 500/1
Meanwhile, a brilliant second half performance from Ireland saw the defending champions claim a narrow victory over England in Dublin and that result saw the Irish shorten to 11/8 for the Six Nations crown.
Ireland are chasing an unprecedented third successive Six Nations title but France remain the hot favourites to win the competition, with William Hill pricing Les Bleus at 11/10 to prevail.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Ireland are seeking an unprecedented three-peat but remain behind France in the betting to do so, with Les Bleus heading the market at 11/10 from Ireland at 11/8, with both sides shortening after opening round victories.”
Six Nations Winner Odds:
- France – 11/10
- Ireland – 11/8
- England – 9/1
- Scotland – 12/1
- Italy – 500/1
- Wales – 500/1
It could come down to Ireland’s clash with France in Dublin on March 8th, with all eyes likely to be on the clash at the Aviva Stadium on matchday 4.
