Now, let’s take a closer look at some betting angles for Sunday’s Premier League fixtures:
Chelsea v Leicester City – Sunday, 2pm
- Chelsea travelled to Denmark on Thursday to face FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Conference League, a 2-1 victory showed why the Blues are favourites to go all the way.
- That victory was the first time Enzo Maresca’s side have won back-to-back games in any competition since December, making it three in a row would see the Blues move back into the top four.
- Chelsea have lost just two homes games in the league this season (Man City & Fulham), the last time they lost to Leicester was 2021 in an FA Cup fixture.
——————————– - A 2-0 defeat to West Ham in their last outing extended the Foxes winless run to five games, with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side still five points from safety.
- Leicester City have won just two of their thirteen Premier League away games so far, only Southampton have a worse record on the road.
- I expect Chelsea to win this one but seeing both teams score wouldn’t surprise me, 77% of Chelsea homes games have seen both teams on the scoresheet, whilst the same has occurred in the last five meetings between the two sides.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Chelsea To Win, Chelsea 3-1 Leicester City.
Tottenham Hotspur v Bournemouth – Sunday, 2pm
- Despite being favourites to win the UEFA Europa League this season, Tottenham have made life difficult for themselves after losing their first leg 1-0 away to AZ Alkmaar.
- After missing 10 games with a knee injury, Spurs fans were delighted to see Dominic Solanke come off the bench with 20 minutes left to play, they weren’t too happy when the striker limped off again, a big worry.
- Spurs have won six of their last seven meetings with Bournemouth on home soil, with the last four games in North London producing at least four goals.
——————————– - Bournemouth bounced back from consecutive defeats in the Premier League with a victory on penalties against Wolves to secure their place in the FA Cup quarter-final.
- The Cherries have been brilliant on the road, they’ve lost just one of their last nine away games across all competitions.
- Andoni Iraola’s have slipped down to seventh with three sides hot on their heels, a win here could be vital come the end of the season.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Over 3.5 Goals, Both Teams To Score In Both Halves.
Manchester United v Arsenal – Sunday, 4.30pm
- Manchester United will feel a little hard done by as they left San Sebastian with only a draw in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League tie with Real Sociedad, a controversial penalty for La Real cancelled out Joshua Zirkzee’s opener.
- The Europa League is the last bit of silverware that’s available for Man United this season following their FA Cup exit to Fulham last weekend, they also need to start climbing the PL table having won one of their last four.
- United should take some confidence from their 1-1 draw in the FA Cup against Arsenal back in January despite playing with ten men for a large part of that game, eventually winning the game on penalties.
——————————– - Having been a little short up top and scoring just two goals in their last four games, not many people expected Arsenal to score seven away to PSV on Tuesday evening, becoming the first side to score seven goals away from home in a UEFA Champions League knockout game.
- With Liverpool playing on Saturday, the pressure could be on Arsenal to win this one and keep their slight chances of a PL title alive, although thirteen points behind at this stage, it seems highly unlikely.
- This tends to be a difficult place for Arsenal, they’ve won just three teams here in their last twenty-one attempts.
Prediction: Draw, Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal.
