Now, let’s take a closer look at some betting angles for Sunday’s Premier League fixtures:
Brentford v Chelsea – Sunday, 2pm
- Brentford’s club record of unbeaten away games in the Premier League came to an end at Newcastle on Wednesday night, the Bees had previously put together five consecutive victories on the road.
- It’s been on home soil where Thomas Frank’s side have suffered in recent weeks, they are now without a win in any of their last eight home games across all competitions.
- If the Bees are to end that poor home record against their rivals Chelsea on Sunday, they’ll have to beat the Blues on home soil for the first time since 1938.
——————————– - Chelsea have been quite the opposite in terms of their home and away form, the Blues extended their unbeaten run at Stamford Bridge to eight games on Thursday night with a 1-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur.
- However, it’s a different story on the road for Enzo Maresca’s side, with just one win on their travels in their last nine outings which came in the UEFA Conference League, they’ve won just twice here in their last five visits.
- Chelsea should at least find themselves on the scoresheet here, with Brentford unable to keep a clean sheet in any of their fifteen home games in the Premier League so far in this campaign.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Draw, Brentford 1-1 Chelsea.
Fulham v Liverpool – Sunday, 2pm
- It’s not been a great couple of weeks for Fulham, they exited the FA Cup on home soil against Crystal Palace before a defeat at Arsenal hampered their top seven finish a little, although the Cottagers are just three points from those European places.
- Marco Silva’s side remain just one of three sides in the Premier League to take something from Liverpool at Anfield this season after their 2-2 stalemate in the reverse fixture.
- The history of this fixture won’t fill Fulham with much confidence, they’ve beaten Liverpool just once in their last fifteen games across all competitions. (W1, D4, L10)
——————————– - Following their exit from the UEFA Champions League and then their defeat to Newcastle in the EFL Cup final, Liverpool were able to bounce back with a 1-0 victory against their rivals Everton on Wednesday evening.
- The derby victory was Liverpool’s twenty-second league win of the season and another step closer to claiming their twentieth league title, the gap to Arsenal remains at twelve points prior to this weekends action, it feels like it’s inevitable now with only eight games left to play.
- Arne Slot’s side remain the only side in the Premier League yet to suffer defeat away from home in this campaign, that should continue at Craven Cottage although we could see both teams on the scoresheet, it’s occurred in nine of the last ten meetings between these two sides in West London.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Liverpool To Win, Fulham 1-3 Liverpool.
Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton – Sunday, 2pm
- Another defeat for Tottenham Hotspur away at Chelsea on Thursday evening not only leaves them ten points off the top half in the Premier League, it also puts the pressure back on Ange Postecoglou.
- Chants of “You don’t know what you’re doing” came from the away end, Ange replied by cupping his ear after Pape Matar Sarr scored an equaliser, only for VAR to rule the goal out, not ideal for Ange.
- Ultimately, the Europa League is the aim now for Spurs but even with everything that surrounding the club are the moment, they’ll have enough to beat this Southampton side, surely?
——————————– - Southampton could be relegated with seven games still left to play if Wolves beat Ipswich and they lose here on Sunday.
- Ivan Juric has already set his players the task of avoiding becoming the worst Premier League side in history, they’ve got to pick up another two points in their last eight games to beat Derby’s woeful record.
- The Saints did pick up a draw in their last outing at home to Crystal Palace, although they’ve beaten Spurs just once in their last eight away games.
Prediction: Match Result and 4 or More Goals in the Match – Tottenham Hotspur, Tottenham 3-1 Southampton.
