Sunday, Leopardstown
We’re looking forward to getting Fiery Lucy’s season started in the Group 3 over seven furlongs at Leopardstown on Sunday (2.20pm). She has wintered well, strengthened up a lot and we’re happy with her at the moment.
It looks a good race, as we expected, but I think she should run well. She will definitely come on for the run, but she’s also fit enough to run well.
We’ll be aiming her at all the fillies’ stakes races this season, particularly the three-year-old-only races. We’ll see how she progresses throughout the season and she’ll dictate where she goes depending on what level she races to.
She’s running over seven furlongs on Sunday and I think that is probably her trip. I wouldn’t rule out a mile but I don’t think she’d go any further than that. I’m certainly happy with seven furlongs and I don’t see her coming back to six.
Snellen straight to Royal Ascot
Snellen has been in Bahrain over the winter and has had a break since coming back in the spring, but she’s back now. The main aim for her this season is Royal Ascot and I’d say she’ll probably go straight there.
We have around 40 two-year-olds in the yard for this season and Joyful Tidings has been our only runner of those so far. He was a good winner over five furlongs at Tipperary and he seems to have come out of that well and taken a step forward.
We’re hoping that he keeps progressing and he could possibly go to Trials Day. We’ll see how that goes and it would be great to go to Royal Ascot with him.
We have a fair few promising ones in the yard who could be nice horses for later on in the season.
