The season’s second major arrives in style as the 2025 USPGA Championship journeys to Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

After hosting the USPGA in 2017 and the Presidents Cup in 2022, Quail Hollow is no stranger to elite competition, and its demanding layout promises another dramatic major week.

Set up as a par-71 stretching to over 7,600 yards, Quail Hollow combines brute force with finesse. The “Green Mile” – the treacherous closing stretch from holes 16 to 18 — looms large, ensuring no lead is ever safe. With slick Bermuda greens, thick rough, and a premium on approach shots, the course will test every facet of a player’s game. Ball-strikers and longer hitters tend to thrive here, making it a true litmus test for major champions.

We’ve sifted through the form, the stats, and the trends to bring you our top picks for Quail Hollow. We had a decent performance from our picks for the Truist Championship last week, with Sam Burns clinching a top-30 finish.

If Rory McIlroy wins the tournament and your Qualifying Bet loses, you will receive your losing stake back as a free bet.

Justin Thomas – 16/1

There’s no better time for a Justin Thomas resurgence than a major championship – and no better venue than Quail Hollow, where he lifted the Wanamaker Trophy in 2017. The two-time USPGA Champion is back in familiar territory, and with signs of form returning this season, he’s a name to watch closely.

Thomas has shown flashes of his best in 2025, including a statement win at RBC Heritage, followed up by a T2 place last week at the Truist Championship – his third runner-up finish of the season after the American Express and Valspar Championship

Quail Hollow suits his aggressive style and creative shot-making. Thomas isn’t the first name that comes to mind when you think of distance players, but he’s 51st in driving distance on tour.

He’s one of the few players with both the course history and the major pedigree to thrive under pressure. At 16/1, Thomas offers real upside as a proven major winner with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove. If he finds rhythm early in the week, he could be tough to chase down.

Shane Lowry – 40/1

Few players grind out a tough golf course better than the 2019 Open Champion, Shane Lowry. With crisp iron play, and one of the most creative short games on tour, Lowry is built for championship golf, and Quail Hollow suits his strengths.

He’s posted a T2 at Pebble Beach for the AT&T earlier in the year, while coming up just short last week at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, showing he’s not far off adding another big title to his name. Lowry ranks inside the top 10 on Tour in strokes gained: approach and is among the best in scrambling – a key factor around Quail Hollow’s elevated, protected greens.

Though he’s not the longest driver, he shapes the ball beautifully and rarely beats himself. If the weather turns or conditions firm up, Lowry’s temperament and shot-making could make him a major factor. At 40/1, he’s excellent value for a major champion in strong form.
