British Open Round 4 Tips: Who Lifts Claret Jug On Championship Sunday?

Sam Burns holds a two-stroke lead in The Open heading into the final round on Sunday, pursued by Ryan Fox, Burns shot a five-under 65 on Saturday to hold a commanding position and put himself in the final group.

The golf betting markets price the American as the clear favourite to win the tournament ahead of Si Woo Kim (5/1) and Fox (15/2). Bryson DeChambeau, who is still playing after his controversy on Friday, is at 11/1.

Tee to green feels like a good way to assess the first 54 holes of golf. Anyone could get red-hot with their putter on Sunday and make a surge. Burns leads the way in strokes gained tee to green, followed by the world number one Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm.

Given the likelihood of some very low scores in the final round, neither Scheffler nor Rahm can be counted out, even though they are both six shots off the lead.

As noted on Saturday, Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen is having an excellent tournament. The Dane is fifth in strokes gained tee to green and shot 67 on Saturday. He’s five shots behind Burns.

There’s unquestionably value backing Neergaard-Petersen each-way (five places) at 66/1. Equally, how often can we get Scheffler at 22s going into the final round of a major? Eric Cole, who shot 66 on Saturday, is 150/1.

There’s value to be found out there. Yes, Burns is the clear favourite given his excellent performance in the third round, but a two-shot lead is hardly insurmountable. Kim is very much in contention for the first major of his career to cap off a strong season.

It’s worth keeping a close eye on Xander Schauffele (66/1). A player with immense experience on the Sundays of majors, Schauffele has been there and done it and shot 66 on Saturday. He might be six back, but he’s destined to be in the mix if Burns slips up.
