Charles Schwab Challenge 2025 Preview

| BY News Team

The USPGA Championship may have only just wrapped up, but the relentless pace of the golfing calendar continues as the PGA Tour heads to Fort Worth, Texas, for the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge at the historic Colonial Country Club.

Colonial is one of the most iconic stops on Tour – a tight, tree-lined test that demands precision and shot-making over brute force. Unlike the layout at Quail Hollow last week, this classic course will play to just over 7,200 yards and rewards players who keep the ball in play, manage their way around tricky greens, and excel with mid to short irons.

Scottie Scheffler (9/4) will again head the market on home turf, but at a short price, we’re happy to look elsewhere for better value, with four players who look primed to contend.

J.T. Poston – 40/1

J.T. Poston might not be the flashiest player on Tour, but few are as steady from tee to green on courses like Colonial. A North Carolina native, Poston brings the southern grit and methodical approach needed to navigate a strategic layout like this one. His ability to keep the ball in play off the tee and dial in his wedges makes him a strong contender in Fort Worth.

His form in 2025 has improved in recent months, moving away from mid-leaderboard finishes to the top end. In five of the last six tournaments Poston has played, he’s finished in the top 30, with the outlier being The Masters.

While his overall record at this event has been inconsistent, missing three out of the last four cuts, he finished T12 last year – showing that he can navigate the layout effectively when in form. With his calm demeanour and solid short game, Poston could very well sneak into the mix again this week.

At 40/1 with 8 places at William Hill, Poston provides serious each-way value, especially coming off a T5 finish at the second Major of the year.

Si Woo Kim – 40/1

Colonial is a course that separates the artists from the power players – and Si Woo Kim is nothing if not a golfing artist. A former Players Championship winner and a multiple PGA Tour victor, Kim thrives on courses that reward imagination and control. He ranks 14th on Tour in SG: Tee to Green and Around the Green, making him a great fit for Colonial’s classic layout.

Kim has been in solid form this season, with a T8 finish at the RBC Heritage and a T8 at the USPGA Championship. His ability to shape shots both ways and keep the ball in play makes him a menace on tight, tree-lined layouts.

His course history may not immediately jump off the page, but that can be misleading. He’s a much more mature and consistent player now, with a more composed mental game and stronger putting stroke than in years past. He also has four PGA Tour wins to his name, proving he knows how to close when in contention.

At 40/1, Si Woo Kim is the kind of player who could be underestimated by the market – and potentially by the field – making him a strong value play for those looking beyond the usual suspects.
