Prince Of Wales’s Stakes 2025: Economics Ruled Out Of Royal Ascot Meeting

William Haggas revealed on Tuesday morning that last year’s Irish Champion Stakes winner Economics has been ruled out of the 2025 Royal Ascot meeting.
As short as 5/1 in sports betting markets for this year’s Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at the Royal meeting, Economics has yet to appear this term and his trainer confirmed that he is set for a brief spell on the sidelines.
One of the most lucrative races at the meeting, the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes is one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the week and the market has had a significant shake-up since news broke on Tuesday morning.
Los Angeles has shortened at the top of the betting but it is the Owen Burrows-trained Anmaat who has been popular with punters, with the 2024 Champion Stakes winner now into 4/1 with William Hill.
All eyes will be on the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes on Wednesday at Royal Ascot and the race has suffered a blow as a spectacle with Economics out, though fingers crossed he will make a swift recovery from the muscle injury.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “News that William Haggas’ Economics has been ruled out of Royal Ascot has shaken up the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes market. With one of his key competitors out, we have clipped Los Angeles from 7/2 to 3/1 at the head of the market.
“One horse we’re now fearing could be a popular pick is Anmaat after a strong reappearance behind Los Angeles at the Curragh and the Champion Stakes winner could be the punters’ pick at 4/1.
“Economics had been third in the betting but that place now belongs to Wathnan Racing’s French raider, Map Of Stars (5/1).”
