Queen Anne Stakes History
The Queen Anne Stakes is a prestigious Group 1 flat race held annually at Ascot Racecourse, typically on the opening day of the Royal Ascot meeting.
In 2024, the race took place on Tuesday 18th June, covering a distance of 1 mile (1,609 meters) on turf. Open to horses aged four and older, it is renowned for attracting top milers from around the world.
The 2024 edition featured 13 runners, with Charyn emerging victorious under jockey Silvestre De Sousa. Trained by Roger Varian, Charyn secured his first Group 1 win with a commanding performance, finishing comfortably ahead of Docklands and Maljoom.
The race’s £750,000 purse made it one of the most lucrative mile races in Europe. Notably, the Queen Anne Stakes has been won by several notable horses, including Frankel, Palace Pier, and Baaeed, solidifying its status as a premier event in the flat racing calendar.
