NAP of the Day: 5/2 Chance To Get Punters Off To A Flyer On Day 1 At Royal Ascot

Our tipster gives his best fancy on the opening day of the 2025 Royal Ascot meeting but who is his NAP of the Day on Tuesday?

It’s Day 1 of the Royal meeting and we’ve got you covered with selections for every race ahead of Tuesday’s action. Here, I discuss my best bet on Tuesday at the Berkshire track.

We’ve got four Group Ones, a competitive Listed race and two exciting handicaps for horse racing betting punters to try and pick apart on Tuesday at Royal Ascot so let’s get straight to my NAP on Day 1.

NAP of the Day – Tuesday 17th June 2025:

• 6:00 Royal Ascot – French Master (5/2)

Punters have to wait until the last race of the day for my NAP of the Day but hopefully it’ll be worth the wait. I’m struggling to see past FRENCH MASTER in the Copper Horse Stakes, he looks to have plenty going for him ahead of the finale on Day 1.

Wathnan Racing moved to acquire French Master following his success at Goodwood last month and he could have plenty of scope for improvement off his current BHA mark of 100.

He was raised 4lbs for that victory and the addition of first-time blinkers will hopefully do the trick, and James Doyle is reportedly very sweet on his chances ahead of Royal Ascot 2025.

That was his first attempt at 1m6f and I saw huge positives for his future as a powerful staying type. He reminds me a little of stablemate Sweet William, who also improved considerably for stepping up in trip – and for donning headgear.

The Willie Mullins-trained Charlus is the potential fly in the ointment but he could be either ‘well in’ or ‘well out’ as his flat form is difficult to assess. For me, French Master is the one they have to beat and I’m hoping he can get the job done to get this NAP of the Day Royal Ascot column off to a flyer.
