India captain Shubman Gill has led by example with the bat this summer, recording 585 runs in two Test matches to open the series.

Don Bradman’s record haul of 974 runs during the 1930 Ashes series with England is in his sights and the latest cricket betting odds at William Hill price Gill at 9/2 to break that record.

Gill has notched three centuries in four innings this summer, recording scores of 147 & 8 in the first Test match before taking the bull by the horns at Edgbaston with 269 & 161 to draw India level.

Shubman Gill to Beat Don Bradman’s Single Test Series Run Record of 974 Runs

  • To Break the Record – 9/2

The 25-year-old is sitting on 585 runs through two Test matches and that leaves him with 390 required runs to surpass Bradman’s 95-year-old record, and there will be plenty of sports betting punters who will fancy India’s talisman to hit that figure.

After all, he will need to score an average of 65 runs per innings if he is to break Bradman’s record and he is operating at a level much higher than that. All eyes will be on Gill at Lord’s to see if he can continue his excellent run of form.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Shubman Gill’s phenomenal start to life with the bat as India captain has already swept aside some long-lasting Test records, and we give him a firm chance of breaking the all-time most runs scored in a Test series.

“Don Bradman’s 974 runs in the 1930 Ashes will take some topping, but with Gill well over halfway through that total after just two Tests, we’re 9/2 for him to break the near-century long record in the remaining three matches.”

Punters can read our England v India third test preview ahead of the action, and cricket fans will be keeping a very close eye on Gill and his performance with the bat throughout the upcoming Test.
