Premier League relegation predictions 2025/26
The 2025/26 Premier League season is not far away and the three promoted teams will be preparing their survival tactics.
For the past two seasons, all three of the newly-promoted teams have failed to avoid the drop and have found themselves lingering back in the second tier after just one season at the top.
This summer, Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland have all been splashing the cash to try and secure their Premier League spot. Here, we take a look at who could be relegated this season.

Sunderland 2/7
Newly-promoted Sunderland are the 2/7 favourites to be relegated. The Championship Play-Off Final winners finished 24 points behind the automatic promotion places, so it’s easy to see why they’re bottom of the pile heading into the Premier League season.
That said, they haven’t been shy in the transfer market and so far they’ve spent north of £100 million on promising talents like Habib Diarra, Simon Adingra, Enzo Le Fée, Chemsdine Talbi and Noah Sadiki. The loss of young stars Jobe Bellingham and Tom Watson will no doubt be hard to take, but they seem intent on making the necessary reinforcements to strengthen their chances of survival.
Burnley – 1/3
Last season’s Champions runners-up are next on the list to face the drop, a shade longer than Sunderland at 1/3. Scott Parker’s side finished level on points with Leeds last season but are far less fancied to stay up.
The Clarets’ spending has been far more spread out and they’ve only parted with around £65 million so far, bringing in exciting, experienced wingers like Marcus Edwards and Jaidon Anthony, while also taking a chance on young prospects like Loum Tchaouna and Bashir Humphreys. One eye-catching arrival is Kyle Walker on a free transfer from Manchester City and the six-time Premier League-winning defender’s experience will surely boost their chances of staying up.
Leeds – 10/11
Of the three promoted teams, Daniel Farke’s Leeds side are seen as the likeliest to avoid relegation at 10/11. Many felt they should’ve gone up the season prior, but they strengthened off the back of their Play-Off Final loss and won the league with 100 points.
Many of their players are already considered to be of a Premier League standard – the likes of seasoned internationals Ethan Ampadu, Daniel James, Joe Rodon and Ao Tanaka in the category. Aside from those they have bags of quality in the squad with Wilfried Gnonto, Joël Piroe and Largie Ramazani in forward areas. Combine those with the arrival of Jaka Bijol, Sean Longstaff, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Lukas Nmecha, and Leeds look a force to be reckoned with this season.
Wolves – 10/3
Wolves managed to avoid the drop after a tough 2024/25 season, largely thanks to the clear gulf in class between the top 17 and three newly-promoted teams, as well as a dismal league campaign from Tottenham Hotspur.
Matheus Cunha was the driving force behind the majority of the positives at Molineux last season, but his £64 million move to Manchester United has left a gaping hole in Vítor Pereira’s side, as has the £32 million departure of creative full-back Rayan Aït-Nouri to Manchester City.
Though they’ve made Jørgen Strand Larsen’s move permanent and secured the signature of an exciting attacking midfielder in Fer López, the 2025/26 season could be a gruelling one for Wolves fans to endure and if one of the promoted sides performs well then 10/3 could prove to be good value on Pereira’s side to go down.
Brentford – 7/2
Brentford are another side from last season’s Premier League campaign who have lost one of the keys to their success, but this time it is the manager Thomas Frank. After leading the Bees to a top-half finish last season, Frank has made the move across London to Spurs.
Among the playing staff, Christian Nørgaard and Mark Flekken have already left, while it is widely believed that star attackers Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa won’t be far behind them, no matter how hard Brentford try to keep them. If they are to leave then their chances of survival next season look slim and it may be worth taking the 7/2 before moves for those two are completed.
Prediction
Predicting the three teams to go down over the past couple of seasons has been quite an easy task, but this year’s promoted teams look far stronger. Burnley haven’t made too many inspiring signings and could fall short of the rest, while Sunderland and Leeds have the added support of the 12th man with away days at the Stadium of Light and Elland Road proving a tough task for anyone.
Wolves and Brentford have taken significant blows in the transfer window and it’s tough to see them being able to replace key players with like-for-like quality. We can see them bucking the trend and facing the drop.
Prediction: 20th Burnley | 19th Wolves | 18th Brentford
