England Women vs Sri Lanka Women Prediction – 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup

England face Sri Lanka in the Women’s World Cup on Saturday.

Colombo is the venue as England look to improve to three wins from three, while the host nation are chasing their first win following a washout with Australia and a heavy defeat to India.

The cricket betting markets inevitably price England as clear favourites at a price of 1/7. Sri Lanka have one win in 20 matches against England, which came at the 2013 World Cup.

England Women vs Sri Lanka Women Odds:

Punters can bet on England Women v Sri Lanka Women in the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:

  • England Women – 1/7
  • Sri Lanka Women – 4/1

These teams played a three-match ODI series in 2023, with England claiming seven-wicket and 161-run wins either side of a rain out.

England’s Bangladesh Challenge

After dismantling South Africa, England were given a tougher matchup by Bangladesh. Wickets were taken consistently, and shared around the attack, ensuring Bangladesh didn’t get out of reach in the first dig, but they still made England work for the win with the bat.

Nat Sciver-Brunt’s team fell to 29-2. A partnership between Sciver-Brunt and her predecessor Heather Knight calmed the situation before three quick wickets caused a brief bout of panic. Knight guided the team home with a composed innings, though, and was ably supported by cameos from Alice Capsey and Charlie Dean.

The fragility of the batting lineup is a concern going forward. Knight and Sciver-Brunt showed good touch to rebuild after the openers fell cheaply, but four of the top six failing doesn’t inspire confidence for the remainder of the tournament.

Underdog Hosts

Sri Lanka’s pre-tournament preparation was a mixed bag. They registered wins over India and South Africa to book their place in the final of the Tri Series but were heavily beaten by the former in the decisive match.

A one-run loss to Bangladesh was their only true warm-up match due to their clash with Pakistan being rained out.

Sri Lanka have only won eight out of 39 matches at 50-over World Cups. They are ranked sixth in the world, and while they have the talent to beat the top teams on their day, they need a lot to go right.

England Women vs Sri Lanka Women Best Bet

  • Heather Knight Over 32 Runs & Linsey Smith Over 1 Wicket (21/10)

Linsey Smith has taken multiple wickets in the first two matches of this tournament. Sri Lanka’s top order are likely to struggle with her wicket-to-wicket bowling and the swing/drift she’s been able to get with the new ball.

It’s trial by spin for England. Knight is excellent on slow, low surfaces like we expect to see in Colombo. The veteran batter averted a crisis against Bangladesh and may again need to bat time if early wickets fall.

There are other Your Odds combinations worth considering or creating, but this is our best value pick at the time of writing. We’d also consider backing Lauren Bell to take a couple of wickets given how some Sri Lankan batters may struggle with her pace.
