Next Southampton Manager Odds: Russell Martin Favourite For Saints Return

Southampton England 23 October 2024 - Southampton Football Club home stadium St Mary's. Premier league football team Saints. SFC team ground

Following the departure of Will Still from Southampton, Russell Martin is the 7/4 favourite to become the next Saints manager with William Hill.

Having guided the club to promotion from the Championship in 2024, Martin has emerged as the frontrunner for the role despite his own recent dismissal from Rangers.

Michael Carrick is next in the betting at 11/2, with recently departed Celtic boss Brendan Rogers behind at 7/1, along with another former Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Lee Carsley follows at 8/1, with current Coventry manager Frank Lampard a 10/1 chance.

Next Permanent Southampton Manager Odds:

Punters can bet on the next Saints manager at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:

  • Russell Martin – 7/4
  • Michael Carrick – 11/2
  • Brendan Rogers – 7/1
  • Ralph Hasenhuttl – 7/1
  • Lee Carsley – 8/1
  • Frank Lampard – 10/1
  • David Wagner – 12/1
  • Alex Revell – 14/1
  • Paul Heckingbottom – 14/1
  • Bar – 16/1

The market is wide open and the Saints board will be eyeing up the replacement for Will Still. Could they go back to a ‘tried and tested’ manager who knows the club or will they look elsewhere? Only time will tell.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “After Russell Martin’s departure from Rangers, many thought that might be the last we’d see of him in the dugout for a while, but he has emerged as the favourite to return to Southampton.

“He is the current 7/4 favourite to return to St Mary’s ahead of Michael Carrick, who is a fair way back in the betting at 11/2. Brendan Rogers is a 7/1 shot alongside Ralph Hasenhuttl, who also had a stint managing the Saints. Lee Carsley isn’t out of it either at 8/1.”
