Becher Chase Ante-Post Predictions & Odds (2025)

Grand National Fences

An exhilarating afternoon of top-class racing is due to take place at Aintree Racecourse on December 6th 2025.

At the heart of the action is the William Hill Becher Handicap Steeple Chase, a race where top horses and jockeys jump the famous Grand National fences and has produced legends like Vieux Lion Rouge, Walk In The Mill, and Amberleigh House – the latter of whom went on to claim Grand National glory.

There is added interest with this year’s William Hill Becher Handicap Chase being the first of the three contests in the exciting new “William Hill Half A Mill” bonus scheme.

The “William Hill Half A Mill” offers £500,000 to connections if the winner of either the William Hill Becher Handicap Chase, William Hill Classic Chase (Warwick, January 10th) or William Hill Grand National Trial (Haydock Park, February 14th) go on to triumph in the Randox Grand National at Aintree on April 11th.

Ante-Post Interest

Jointly-heading our current horse racing betting for the Becher Chase, is the Sara Bradstock-trained Mr Vango at 8/1.

Bradstock is extremely keen to finally get her charge over the famous Grand National fences in the Becher Chase.

The Oxfordshire handler has earmarked Aintree at the start of December as the first major target for the nine-year-old, who won all three of his starts last season.

After landing the London National Handicap at Sandown Park last December, Mr Vango backed that success up a month later in the Peter Marsh Handicap Chase at Haydock Park.

He then went on to carry top weight to glory in the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter.

After having failed to make the cut for last year’s Grand National, Bradstock is keen to qualify for the Aintree showpiece this season, and this shorter “mini National” would be the ideal race for him.

The other joint-favourite in our sports betting – Johnnywho (8/1), may well have needed the run in the Grand Sefton (finished 5th), though he has won well fresh before. He is has probably got a big race in him, but his jumping remains a concern and he looks a little underpriced at this present time.

Colonel Harry  (Jamie Snowden, 10-1) is joint second-favourite, having already been successful over the Grand National fences this season in the William Hill Grand Sefton Handicap Chase at Aintree on November 8th, when he defeated Gaboriot  (Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero, 16-1).

Becher Chase Antepost Tip: Gaboriot (16/1, E/W)
