Cheltenham Tips Sunday: November Meeting Day 3 Predictions (2025)

Cheltenham Festival Tips For 2025

Carnival Sunday brings the local community together for six exhilarating races at Cheltenham Racecourse, with the focal point of the afternoon being the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle.

Run over 2m½f on the Old Course, the contest gives us some early season pointers ahead of the Champion Hurdle, run at the Cheltenham Festival next March.

Rooster Booster (2002) was the last horse to win the Greatwood Hurdle, then go onto capture the Champion Hurdle in the same season.

Here are my fancies for Sunday:

1.15pm – 2m½f Maiden Hurdle (Class 2) (4yo+)

Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen having been hitting all the high notes when pairing up, and they can register another winner together with HOLD THE SERVE (NAP).

Winner of an Irish point-to-point in December 2024, this son of Jukebox Jury is sure to have been schooled well for his racecourse debut. It is also interesting that the horse was a non-runner the other day at Exeter.

1.45pm – 2m4f Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (Class 3) (4yo+)

A 10 and 17 length winner of his first two hurdle races last season, Lucy Wadham’s JAX JUNIOR looks sure to develop into a smart chaser.

Admittedly his first chase effort at Uttoxeter was disappointing, but I am assured there were reasons for it, and the six-year-old is worth another chance.

2.20pm – 2m Handicap Chase (Class 3) (4yo+ 0-140)

If GLENGOULY can reproduce the absolutely wonderful round of jumping he put in at the Aintree Grand Sefton meeting, he can find himself on the winner’s rostrum once more.

After a long spell in the doldrums, the application of headgear really sparked life into the one time Willie Mullins inmate, and for a long way he looked like winning that Aintree contest.

2.55pm – 3m3½f Handicap Chase (Class 1) (4yo+)

Venetia Williams will have been clapping her hands with glee earlier in the week when she saw the forecast for Cheltenham and her runner TANGANYIKA can make hay in the underfoot conditions on Sunday.

Just a length second to Mr Vango in last season’s Midland Grand National, the seven-year-old will not want for stamina in this contest.

3.30pm – 2m½f Greatwood Handicap Hurdle (Class 1) (3yo+)

The Ben Pauling stable has been red hot of late and a chance can be given to his FIERCELY PROUD in this feature race.

Winner of the Ladbroke Hurdle at Ascot last December, the six-year-old’s form fell to pieces in the spring, but he too dangerous to dismiss first time up given the yard form.

Odds of 22/1 in our horse racing betting look ideal for an each-way flutter.

4.00pm – 2m½f Open National Hunt Flat Race (Class 1) (4-5yo)

Henrietta Knight’s WONDER FLYING already has some bumper experience at Cheltenham, having finished fifth here, beaten six lengths at the October meeting.

At double-figure odds, the Masked Marvel-gelding can progress for the experience and is an each-way play in our sports betting odds.
