Kempton Horse Racing Tips – Boxing Day 2025
King George VI Chase Day stages some of the most important races in the National Hunt calendar, including the Grade One Boxing Day showpiece, the King George VI Chase, as well as the Christmas Hurdle and Kauto Star Chase.
Here, I cast my eye over every race at Kempton on Boxing Day – so read on for my selections!
12.45pm – 2m4½f Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (4yo+ 0-130)
With the Joe Tizzard stable firing on all cylinders, the logical pick here is for U CAN’T BE SERIOUS to clock up the hat-trick.
A dual winner at Exeter already this season, the six-year-old is in excellent form and can make his presence felt here.
1.20pm – 3m Kauto Star Novices’ Chase (Grade 1)
A 153-rated hurdler, KITZBUHEL (NAP) won two of his four starts over hurdles after joining Willie Mullins last season.
He won a Punchestown beginners chase last month with relative ease, and bigger things are expected of him going forward. He will be a popular choice in our sports betting.
1.55pm 2m Christmas Hurdle (Grade 1)
GOLDEN ACE took full advantage of her rivals failing to complete in Newcastle’s Fighting Fifth Hurdle and thoroughly deserves to take on the best again in this Christmas feature.
Sir Gino is obviously the one they all have to beat, but he may well be susceptible to in-form challengers on his first run of the season.
2.30pm – 3m King George VI Chase (Grade 1)
After landing both the Charlie Hall Chase and the Peterborough Chase so far this season, the Venetia Williams-trained DJELO is firmly in the mix to collect another Graded title on Boxing Day.
While all the horse racing betting interest will be around the big three in the market – Gaelic Warrior, Fact To File and Jango Baie, 164-rated Djelo could easily outrun his 12/1 odds as a horse truly on the up.
3.00pm – 2m Maiden Hurdle (Class 2) (4yo+)
JIMBO SPORT gave his owners a reason to celebrate on course at Hereford back in March, when he registered an emphatic debut bumper win.
He was unlucky not to land his opening novices’ hurdle at Kempton, hitting the front late in the piece, before just being denied by half a length on the line.
He’s undoubtedly the form pick in this line-up and a confident win bet selection.
3.40pm – 2m5f Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) (3yo+ 0-140)
If ever there was a racehorse that fitted the song ‘Someone’s knocking at the door, somebody’s ringing the bell‘, then it’s GEORGE’S LAD.
The five-year-old is winless now since late January, but in the meantime has finished in the frame in three of oh his last four runs.
He’s surely due a change of luck and has to be one of the strongest each-way selections you will find on this entire Kempton card.
