Next Chelsea Manager Odds: Xavi early favourite to replace Maresca
The managerial pressure at Chelsea has reached a new peak, with Enzo Maresca leaving after seeing his side win just two of their last nine games in all competitions, Xavi is the early favourite to replace the Italian.
Barcelona legend Xavi has emerged as the early favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge, the Spanish manager started his managerial career at Al-Sadd before taking over the hot seat at Barca, where he managed 143 games and led his former side to a La Liga title back in 2023, their first league title since 2019.
Enzo Maresca has found himself in this position after a really poor December for the club, a run of form which leaves Chelsea fifth in the Premier League and fifteen points behind the league leaders Arsenal, despite the Blues spending over £250million on transfers during the summer.
People could say it’s a little harsh given the Italian led his side to glory during the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA last summer but it’s clear these owners are wanting a real title charge for Chelsea, they’ll have to wait for that it seems.
Elsewhere, Liam Rosenior is another name that has been mentioned given his successful time at Strasbourg in France, whilst that could be an easy deal to make given they are part of BlueCo. They’ll be plenty of interest in this job and we’ve set out below a list of early contenders.
