Premier League Outrights After Matchday 19: Arsenal extend lead at the top

| BY News Team

The Premier League has reached its halfway point following the first round of fixtures of 2026, with Arsenal pulling away from Manchester City at the top.

Everywhere you look in the table there are tightly contested battles, whether it be the title race, the fight for European places or a relegation scrap.

Let’s take a look at how Matchday 19 changed things.

Title Race

Arsenal have shortened further for the title after Manchester City could only draw away at Sunderland on Thursday night. The Gunners, who made a big statement with their 4-1 thrashing of in-form Aston Villa on Tuesday, are now 1/2 to win their first title in over 20 years.

City have subsequently drifted out to 15/8 to become champions again, in what is now considered to be a two-horse race. Aston Villa, who were 16/1 in the outright market before their visit to the Emirates, have flown out to 33/1, even putting them behind Liverpool (28/1).

Top 4

Chelsea’s recent demise and sacking of manager Enzo Maresca has shaken things up in the top four market. Originally considered a shoo-in for a top four place and even touted as potential title contenders, the Blues are 13/8 to finish in the top four, placing them fifth in the betting.

Liverpool were far from convincing against Leeds on Thursday but are still heavily favoured to finish in the top four at 4/7, perhaps by virtue of the competition around them being so weak. Aston Villa’s eight-game winning run was brought to a sobering halt by Arsenal, with Unai Emery’s men a shade shorter than Liverpool at 1/2 for a top four place. Manchester United round off the top six in the betting at 4/1 after a dismal draw at home to lowly Wolves.

Relegation

Wolves managed to pick up their third point of the season with a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Wednesday, but Rob Edwards’ side remain 1/500 to start next season in the Championship, with that price unlikely to be affected until they secure that elusive first win of the campaign.

Two goals in the opening seven minutes for Newcastle was the worst possible start for Burnley in their clash at Turf Moor on Tuesday, with the Clarets’ winless run in the Premier League stretching to double figures after a 3-1 defeat to the Magpies. Like Wolves, Burnley are widely considered to finish this season in the relegation zone and hold odds of 1/100 to face the drop.

The third of the odds-on shots to face the drop are West Ham. The Hammers had a tough start to the season which eventually saw the end of Graham Potter’s short time at the club, but things haven’t really turned around since Nuno Espirito Santo took over. They are four points from safety after a 2-2 draw to Brighton and 1/4 to be relegated.

Leeds gained another big point away at Liverpool on Thursday, extending their good form. They’re out to 8/1 to go down, putting them below Nottingham Forest (15/2) in the relegation market.
