Next Manchester United Manager Odds: Michael Carrick Clear Favourite For Old Trafford Job
Michael Carrick has been dramatically backed into 1/8 with William Hill to become the next Manchester United manager, just a week after being priced at 8/1.
The former United midfielder has seen overwhelming support from punters in the last seven days, with his odds collapsing from 8/1 into 1/8 to take charge at Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who was odds-on favourite last week, has drifted out to 11/4 in the betting, while Darren Fletcher has eased significantly from 4/1 to 14/1 to land the role on a permanent basis.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has also drifted sharply, moving from 3/1 last week to 20/1, while PSG boss Luis Enrique is another notable mover, pushed out from 10/1 to 20/1.
Next Permanent Man United Manager Odds:
Punters can bet on the next permanent manager of Manchester United at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:
- Michael Carrick – 1/8
- Ole Gunnar Solskjær – 11/4
- Darren Fletcher – 14/1
- Oliver Glasner – 20/1
- Luis Enrique – 20/1
- Bar – 25/1
*Interim manager will be paid out as a winner if they take charge of 10 games.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “We’ve seen an extraordinary swing in the betting over the past week, with Michael Carrick now the clear 1/8 favourite after being backed in heavily from 8/1. That sort of shift usually tells its own story, and many punters clearly believe Carrick could be Manchester United’s man to see out the rest of the season in an interim capacity.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who headed the market last week, has eased to 11/4, but still remains a major player in the betting given his history with the club. Darren Fletcher has drifted to 14/1, while both Oliver Glasner and Luis Enrique are now considered longer shots at 20/1 after attracting far less interest in recent days.
“With United having announced the role will be an interim appointment until the end of the season, we’ve also confirmed that any interim manager will be paid out as a winner if they take charge of 10 or more games.”
