Hearts Inch Closer To William Hill Premiership Favouritism

Hearts

The William Hill Premiership title odds have tightened following Hearts’ 2-2 draw with Celtic.

The leading bookmaker and Scottish Premiership sponsor make Hearts 2/1 to lift the title after Sunday’s stalemate at Tynecastle.

While that still leaves them third in the betting and is a slight drift from 7/4, the gap to the big two is narrowing with Celtic 6/4 (from 6/5) favourites and Rangers just behind at 13/8.

The top of the market has tightened significantly since the start of the season, when the betting read Celtic 4/11, Rangers 2/1, Hearts 25/1.

It’ll be interesting to see if Hearts can maintain their challenge as we enter the business stage of the campaign. If so, we could be in for one of the greatest title races in Scottish Premiership history.

Scottish Premiership Outright Winner Odds:

Punters can bet on the outright William Hill Premiership winner and here is the current state of the market:

  • Celtic – 6/4
  • Rangers – 13/8
  • Hearts – 2/1

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Hearts continue to upset the big boys in the William Hill Premiership as they grabbed a late equaliser against Celtic on Sunday afternoon.

“Their 2-2 draw saw Hearts maintain their six-point lead over the Hoops, but Rangers took advantage with a 3-0 defeat of Dundee to move within four points.

“Our title betting still has Celtic favourites at 6/4 from 6/5, with Rangers just behind at 13/8, but Hearts have taken another step closer to winning the title and although they’re now 2/1, Celtic’s drift means they’re inching closer to the top of the market.

“Although Celtic remain favourites, they’re a far cry from the 4/11-shot when they started the campaign, while Hearts are only going in one direction having opened at 25/1 for the league title!”
