Labour surge in betting for Gorton and Denton by-election
Labour 4/1 from 13/2 overnight; Greens out to 4/6
Labour have shortened dramatically in the last 24 hours in William Hill’s betting on tomorrow’s Gorton and Denton by-election.
Labour are now 4/1 from 13/2 to hold on to the North West constituency, behind the Greens (4/6) and Reform (15/8).
The Greens, who account for almost 50% of bets in the market, were as short as 1/3 two weeks ago but have steadily drifted, with momentum building behind Reform (15/8 from a high of 3/1) – accounting for 37% of all stakes – and more recently Labour.
Gorton & Denton By-Election winner:
Greens (Hannah Spencer) – 4/6
Reform (Matt Goodwin) – 15/8
Labour (Angeliki Stogia) – 4/1

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Sir Keir Starmer’s visit to Gorton and Denton yesterday and the emergence of some positive polling results has seen a surge in bets on Labour to hang on to the North West constituency, seemingly against the odds.
“Labour were 13/2 to win Thursday’s by-election just 24 hours ago, but that price is all gone now and they’re into 4/1, now much closer in the market to Reform and the Greens.
“It’s the Green Party that have been long-time favourites to win the seat, and account for almost half of all bets we have taken on the market, but they have been on the drift in the past fortnight and are now out to 4/6, having been as short as 1/3.
“A Reform win would be our worst result from a business perspective, as 37% of stakes have been placed on them, and they are also shortening, into 15/8 from a high of 3/1. However, it seems Labour could still pull the rabbit out of the hat.”
